In my opinion, their should be more upgrades to tools, other then the diamond tip for the drill (not to mention that it's horribly cheep). Perhaps make A screw driver, that when you have one tool on your hotbar, can open up a crafting menu, with multiple inputs and outputs. Put a drill in the input slot, and a (or multiple) upgrades, and get a upgraded drill in the output slot. You could uninstall upgrades by putting the upgraded tool in the input, and it would have the drill and it's components in the output slot. most upgrades could be universal, such as having a diamond tip upgrade work for the chainsaw, and the drill. It wouldn't be as powerful as the nano saber, but it'd be more powerful then the current saw. Overclockers from regular machines could also be used, along with the energy storage upgrade. there could also be a upgrade where you would have a chance of smelting the ore as soon as it's hit, into 2 ingots at a cost of using more power per use.
Sorry if it sounds like insane ramblings, i'm kind of tired and haven't looked over this much.

Sounds okay, but needs to be kept from being OP, and may be a little too close to enchanting. Not sure if this has been denied yet...

There is a drill upgrade and a laser upgrade in the todo list, but (hint) they deviate from what those tools usually do, and I don't think they will be implemented in the near future.
