Nope, I already removed the plugins before reverting to the older NEI

EDIT: Seems the Extended Workbench mod is causing the issue. Works fine after it is removed.

I have NEI 1.4.2.7 but I'm still geting the same NoSuchMethodError: codechicken.nei.recipe.TemplateRecipeHandler$RecipeTransferRect error that 1.4.2.8 gives, except it's at the Mojang screen instead of trying to load a world.
