This might be obnoxious and hard to place, but you can convert redstone power from a redstone wire to vanilla redstone, and power it that way. Just sayin'
You probably already knew that though..

Theres already an add-on for this. I'll try to find the link for you.
EDIT: Here you go: http://forum.industrial-craft.…page=Thread&threadID=2397
Just a quick input for the CF idea:
If someone lives inside a mountain or something
(like I do..), then having the hardened CF blocks all over my ceiling leading to luminators would be pretty obvious because of the stark contrast between that and smooth stone. So use a special painter that paints block textures to paint the hardened CF blocks? Idk..
Cool idea, although i didn't consider the potential griefing capabilities...
Add-on?
How about instead of getting rid of glass fiber make it so that only glass fiber cable is the only one that can transmit AC and all the others are only able to transmit DC current. Then we can go with the cheaper recipe for the alternator instead of advanced circuits.
I dont know how accurate that is, but for game balancing, maybe that's an idea.
Make it an add-on instead of having it in the actual mod?
I think i would use the material detector in caves a lot.
I always think that there's diamond behind a one thick stone wall, and since i cant see them i dont know they're there. =[
this would be useful because it would at least tell me when i get near one of these veins. =]
Oh! Being slightly-almost-not-really responsible for an indusitrialcraft feature! How exciting!
Looking forward to it.

I like the mini-generator upgrade. It means that if you really wanted to, you could plop down a macerator and put one of those modules in, and it would slowly get energy, even if it's not hooked up to anything.
Should be relatively expensive, as you said, though..
Too bad the still is part of Forestry, not Industrialcraft.
Otherwise, not a bad idea, but personally i would shy away from calling it booze. Something like an 'Energy Drink' or something like that would get rid of the negative connotation.
I like this idea a lot. I was recently writing an essay for school about alternative energies, and i came across a specific type of algae that produces fuel. They are called anaerobes, and they can operate without oxygen. These anaerobes are used to break down biodegradable materials, and the resulting waste can be used as fuel. So just another thought, they can also be used to produce biofuel.
If you can justify the logic behind it, maybe it would be a good idea.
I've been having similar frustrations... You can mitigate it somewhat by placing extra scaffolding to help keep pieces from falling off before they're filled at the cost of some wasted CF, but the worst is having to waste a whole spray on that ONE stupid piece of scaffolding that didn't get filled in, and is now isolated.
Another possible solution would be to add an "advanced CF sprayer" that has modes similar to the mining laser where you can change it between filling 1, 3, 5, 9, and 13 blocks per spray (with slightly reduced efficiency at the lower end). Even just 13 and 3 would work (build mode and touch-up mode). Have the tool require power, and use the CF pack for foam.
I really like this idea, or perhaps some sort of electronic 'adjustable nozzle'
Pretty fancy.
if by economy you mean IC-coins, then yes. If you mean economy by bukkit plugins like iConomy currency, then no. One could always make a certain amount of economy currency equal IC-coins, but i can see where that might get tedious.
perhaps Al could make it so that it checks at night, and the first second it detects daylight, it doesn't check again for x, where x equals the amount of time in a day. After that time is up, it checks once, then doesn't check again for y, where y equals the amount of time in a night. The only flaw in this would be if the player is building around it and obstructs the sunlight. Maybe it could detect block updates in all of the chunks above it? But that would involve more checks, which defeats the purpose of the fix in the first place...
My train of thought just crashed..

Ugh, this just wont come off my keyboard....

Great idea!
I agree with all the above posters opinions
I agree that it would add a cool effect, but is it necessary? Does it really have any use? Seems to me that its just more coding for Al for something that may be purely aesthetic.
If Al values that kinda thing then fine, but to me i don't think its important enough to be added.
^purely my opinion
After realizing that my last post was in the completely wrong forum, i repost.
Will there be a new forum as a sub forum of 'industrial engineering' regarding coding for the new electronics on update v1.337? Since the coding could potentially be really complicated, i think that that it deserves its own forum.
Thanks!

Are you tired of building complex redstone systems just to make your missiles fire exacty 10 seconds after you press the button?
-snip-
Why would you want a rocket to fire ten seconds after? Cant you just hit a button? and wire that up to under the rocket? Here's my build...
The lever launches the rocket and retracts the piston at the same time, putting out the fire
