OC Heat Vents require 16 copper each. I don't see how you are going to mitigate any significant amount of heat without them.

Well turns out I was miscalculating a bit and I will only save copper at about the 20-30% range, and at the cost of a stack or two of diamonds :/
I still think a hybrid of OC Heat vents, exchangers , component vents, and advanced vents would give the most resource balanced reactor, but I'm tired of trying to find an optimized design. Think I'll just suck it and kick my copper production up.

Use RP2 Redstone Frame Tubes connected to block breakers to make the face. Use a couple of frame motors in an inchworm drive. Set up a timer to run it. Hook up an EnderChest to the back of the face so all the input from the block breakers goes into it, and hook it up to your sorting system of choice. Hook up a Chunkloader to keep it loaded.

Oh awesome thanks! Looking into this more and its really cool.

To the OP: Not gonna happen. Heat Vents require a bunch of copper. Nuclear material takes up a lot of heat. The more EU you produce, the more heat you have to mitigate, which means more copper.

I'm not so sure about that - I've been experimenting and tinkering a lot and it looks like I should be able to get some descent eu/t without using copper based components, so I'll only have to use copper for multicells and the chambers themselves, which drastically reduces the amount of copper.

My suggestion to you: Tunnel Bore covering level 50-35. That's where most of the copper will reside. Scrap the cobble.

Yeah I have multiple quarries running and a nether lava centrifuging station, but I hadn't thought about using a tunnel bore. Anyone have a link that explains making tunnel bores to a custom size? The only info I can find on wikis is on the railcraft tunnel bore which apparently only mines 3x3 :-/

Thanks for the replies everybody, but when I say low copper cost, I don't mean just the copper for every cycle i.e that used in multi cells, I mean all the copper total used to construct the reactors, including chambers, vents, and the like. In other words I'm trying to find a reactor that's total copper cost is preferably under 400 (The minimum for a six chamber is 292) but can output at least 200+ preferably 250+ eu. Most of the designs linked use at least 600 copper in their construction.

EDIT: Oh and I trying to get 5000 eu/t to power my yet to be constructed matter fabricator fast enough so I don't spend hours making iridium plates. I can't afk and I'm not on a server, so I need to be able to make iridium in a reasonable amount of time. Preferably I'd like to feed it 10,000 eu/t, but that's going to have to wait.

So I''m trying to spam a bunch of reactors to get 5000 eu/t, but the copper cost is really high. For example, using this reactor (the best I've found so far) from the good designs page(14 of them for 5000 eu/t) takes 10,808 copper(Playing FTB Mindcrack with gregtech by the way, so no copper at all levels). Even with my lava pump centrifuge setup that produces a stack of copper every 8 minutes, it will take ~23 hours to amass that amount of copper. Anyone know of any super copper efficient designs? (Preferably that don't spam advanced heat vents-I have a design that significantly reduces the amount of copper required, but in turn uses a few stacks of diamonds.)
