I always try to leave the finner details to the dev team because they are the ones that know their mod the most and how to fine tune it to their desires. Im just leaving the general ideas i have about making this work.

Mod API. Meh who cares. It won't fit everyone's needs and stuff like Forge/FML will still exist as they did one version ago
/opinion
I would say, that the mod api would likely make installation and distribution a littler easier, for the rest there is Forge

I find it baffling that the only reason 3 to 5 people in this thread have given against is this suggestion is "Boohoo my automatic shit Boohoo".
And i also though rick was smart, guess not, hey buddy weardown its also a challenge, whenever it interferes with your "Boohoo my automatic shit Boohoo" or not does not change his status of a challenge.
Since the whining of the people that only play "Autocraft" its getting annoying and annoying im gonna throw you a bone:
How about creative/adventure mode = No Weardown.
Regular PEACEFUL Survival play = No weardow
Regular Survival play = Weardown increase depending on the difficulty level
Hardcore Survival Play = Extreme weardownA few other points to the people that didn't want to understand beyond "Boohoo my automatic shit will break Boohoo":
-SMP immersion/roleplaying will get a little better, making you hire people to watch your machines while you are away OR if you play SSP Remember that unless you are using a chunkloader if you travel to far your machines will unload stopping the weardown.
-The weardown WILL NOT, i repeat, WILL NOT Happen immediately, depending on the difficulty level it could take from days to weeks. So you can lazily check your machines every now and then.
And i find it moronic of my part that i forgot to include this one in my previous post:
-Durability in Weapon/Armors? Boohoo i want to use my enchanted stuff forever or don't them to break in the middle of a fight its just annoying to the player.
That one its the most close example to the weardown mechanic, and that its considered a challenge...
-
So what is the game value here other than annoying the player?
So what is the game value of:
Monsters? They just look ugly and kill the players and are a annoying to the player.
Darkness? It make things dark and shit, making the player falls into pitfalls and spawn mobs and its annoying to the player.
Lava? Its way too dangerous, igniting the player and killing him and stuff and its annoying to the player.
The End? Just another dark dimension full ofslendermans and dragons and stuff that kill the player and deep void and its annoying to the player.
Bad Status Effects? Stuff like poisoning and weakness thats just annoying to the player.
Caverns? Just big holes in the ground full of pitfalls and depths and monsters and annoying to the player.
EU? I mean Electrocuting the player with uncovered wires and ALWAYS running out and having to make more of it, its just annoying to the player.
Materials? I mean, if they would magically appear when you need then that would be ok, but no you have to look for them leaving your cozy home, its simply annoying to the player.
...Should i continue or you catch my drift?

I admire your ability to, whatever people say, find a comeback.Oh, and installing forestry to have backpacks, its like buying a mac because your anti virus expired... (i am planning on having forestry, but all the industrialist updates sounded nice to me, i often run out of inventory when mining the new awesome ic2 ores and stuff (im too lazy to build a simple chest with pipes)
You can't place a mac and a pc on the same case and have them work... Exactly the same situation happens with Ic2 and Forestry with minecraft...Oh waittttttt... /Moar sarcasm
Anyway alblaka said something like this could be added so that remark above its just for my own personal entertaiment.

We as well got a Jenkins server. It's just not public for afromentioned reasons
tl;dubiam: Stop asking for public releases.
P.S=Didn't Understand Because Im A Moron
-
Gosh you really are an assholeThe point is, we aint gonna install forestry just because of the backpakcs, altough it can be a really useful mod.
So the ic2 developers "must" waste time introducing a feature that its already in another mod just to make your life easier?
But then again you can't configure Forestry to disable most stuff in it including world gen ores and ignoring the rest of the stuff... oh wait... /sarcasm
-
Vainilla IC2 have disabled the enchanting on drills and other Mechanical tools/equipments that uses EU. So No.
-
Since when is the fact that an item is avaliable in another mod an excuse for the IC2 team not to do it?!
It is a valid excuse, but i forgot where was it used in this forum.

Weardown/breaking is sure nice.
I just hope there will be a way to supply expendables or perform repairs via RP tubes or deployers. Well, I'm just too lazy to walk around the processing area checking for oil levels or something like that. You know, part of the reason im pushing this suggestion is to stop exactly that
...Although i think i recently thought of 1 or 2 ways to (semi?)automate machine repairs even if Tubes/Deployer can't do this... But then again those 2 methods aren't has bad as the current situation...

I believe there were like a dozen of threads with same kind of suggestions.
All those suggestions were denied because of lag issues.Like i said, depending on how they are designed, they can cause more or same lag than regular machines.
These machines aren't impossible since a few mods add some of these (TerraFirmaCraft and Railcraft). Heck even vainilla its getting some sort of multiblock "machine" (That Diamond Tower beacon thingy, obsidian portals could probably pass for the same)
-
Depending on how is designed, it could mean more damage than anything.
-
-
Ehhhhh... Remember that recipes gives you 5-8 SU batteries (Depending if your coal was hydrogenated or not).
And once again, this is only useful when you need energy before/during making a Generator.
-
Something like that will most likely hung or explode your machine, since stone its the Number 2 block in terms of numbers (Air being the first). Add that to the fact that it will drop every single stone and those stuff its what causes the lag during several nuclear explosions...
-
How about creative/adventure mode = No Weardown.
Regular Survival play = Weardown increase depending on the difficulty level
Hardcore Survival Play = Extreme weardownAlso ability to spawn/change weardown of machines in Creative mode to make "Extra" challenges for adventure mode maps.
-
Wasteful, you want to use redstone at the start only for getting these Single Use Batteries, until you craft your first legal generator and forget that SUB and Redstone as EU in machine ever existed.
-
can we please not turn this tread into a discussion of solar's?
back to nuke's! More leaks please!
I will only comply because the title do say "Nuclear Reactor".
MOAR NUKLEAR REACTOR LEAKS!!!1111
btw what about reactor destruction scenario? IRL rod based reactor do not explode by itself (there is nothing to explode inside reactor) hydrogen vapors or overpresure steam cause destruction. -Snip-
Too much bothersome of a change for something that already works great.
-
He refers to people spamming thousands of Solar Panels. 'Sort of no noticeable lag' * infinity = lag, and there's not much I can do about that, unless nerfing solar panels to a degree where people stop spamming/using them.
You could try something like this?: From this mod "Factorization"; Not that i really know if thats better or worse actually since i just recently discovered that mod. (The "explanation" about the mirrors and the "solar turbine" its under the "electrical charge" spoiler.
I remember one of your post saying you were messing around with some ideas to make solar panels that are next to each other to add all the energy they produce to a concentrator or something like that (If i remember which thread it was i will link it).
