The process before created industrial diamonds, that could only be used in vainilla and IC2 stuff. Now it creates regular diamond that can be used everywhere, ergo the diamonds created through that process increased in value.
Industrial diamonds were deprecated for regular diamonds, ergo increasing their value, ergo making the cost justificable. revamping a process for no real reason besides "Revamping a process" its stupid.

Lava in the nether can only be extracted while you are in the nether, when you leave the nether any machine in there will stop working (The same happens with overworld machines, while you are in the nether they don't work), this only applies in SSP, in SMP nether machines will work if someone is in the nether and someone else is in the overworld overseeing the operation of the machines there.

Last i checked, Tainted Areas are not dependant on the Seed, they are just randomly chosen during the creation of the world, so you could load the same seed twice and the taint area would be in one but not in another... (Could be the same with stuff spawed during creation like obelisk, crystals and the like.)
At least that was in the version released after 1.2.5 dunno if azanor changed that.

Should probably work best like the inverse of the overclocker, Reduce Speed but increase energy efficiency.

Thaumcraft machines loses their upgrades if you try to move them without removing the upgrade first, why should IC2 Machine be special in that regard?
