Thats my what I think, and thats what I think of this suggestion. And even more if the villagers don't go all techy around(with implants, mechs and stuff).

Villagers are there, and i seriously doubt they are going away anytime soon, might as well use them.

It's stupid. I mean more stupid than most of MC. Artifact can fit mystique, magical, ancient, forbidden, forgotten but not industrial.

It can fit into Sci-Fi setting. Steve stranded in the planet with only basic knowledge of tools and technology. Artifacts long forgotten in the planet either by a ancient advanced civilization that suffered from some kind of bullshitting apocalypse kind of end or aliens that for one bullshit reason or another decided to investigate the planet and then leave the planet/Died like morons due to some bullshit disease while leaving most of their technology or something along those lines.

And why not chase a villager to make a reactor? Its not like we can (always) get uranium or other materials for building it sitting on our asses doing nothing.

Who said anything about using them... *sigh*

Third Approach, Testificates find "Strange" artifacts from around the area, They do not know what they are or how to use but see that Steve got an interest in these artifacts so they are willing to trade those for some coins.

After steve buys these artifacts he can go to his house and try to repair them, and when he does he find what appears to be plans to build some complex machines from a strange civilization that lived in the planet long ago or some aliens. (Artifacts still can be gained from the dungeon chests).

The joke of this suggestion is making use of the testificates new ability to trade stuff, so stick with that >.>, if you want a new table to investigate like thaumcraft you are free to make a new suggestion.

I always find it stupid that people suggest weapons that deplete the energy of the quantum suits, especially when they do such stupid amounts of 1/4, EVEN MORE when people think their "Saber" should not consume a ludicrous amount of energy for doing so too. What im trying to say is that if you gonna slap such an unimaginative purpose to a weapon its gotta cost alot, so 1 (Fully charged) Quantum Saber can only deplete the charge of a (Fully charged) quantum suit before losing all its juice.

(Im surprise no moron have tough of "Pierce" effects on weapons, drain a sizeable amount of energy from the quantum suit, but also deals half or 1 heart of damage to the user, ergo "piercing" the energy shield >.>)

Im not interested to copy Thaumcraft and thats why i was suggesting that the testificates should do the researching.

As for them not using the technology, i just find that to be something entirely unnecesary that could produce lag in servers, it could be done but what purpose does it serve? Just to be pretty?

The basic idea is having the "Villagers" sell the blueprints based on their level of technology:

-Bigger Cities, better techs to sell: for this pre-generated cities should be coded, up to 3 lvls of villages you could say from smaller to bigger OR

-Building a House for the "researcher testificate" in a nearby village, and the more items you place inside the house the better the tech he sells.

Some other choose the first option because it was "More realistic" and shit. All in all you can buy everything from the researcher NPC without having to move too much (Aside from getting the Emeralds or whatever it wants for the blueprints).

Also as a bonus, dungeons/pyramids (New building in 1.3) chests have a random chance to have a blueprint in it.

If you do agree to not update, remember to put in BIG YELLOW LETTERS somewhere in the blog and the forum that IC2 will not update to 1.3 otherwise i fear for the worst.

This just goes to show that you shouldn't take lessons in game balance from places like LoL or WoW... because it's obvious at how truly dysfunctional their styles of gameplay are when you apply them in 'better' games and game enviroments...

(no, that's not a troll comment, but a well placed jab... Go look at the Mist of Pandora talent tree bs to see an example of what I mean...)

The Miner is fine. Hell, I'm about to trade mine out for an Arcane bore, despite the fact that I can set it up off of only 6~7 blocks per site operation...

I don't find anything wrong in trying to "Balance" a game that includes some sort of Player vs Player interaction, but trying to balance minecraft following the same methods and philosophies that LoL and WoW uses to do so its wrong on so many levels. Mostly because those 2 games are pretty defined in their Player Vs Player interactions, while minecraft its a clusterfuck of things you could do with another player that its not fun.

All in all any change to the miner is retarded so keep it like that.

P.S: Minecraft isn't exactly a "Better" game as you say it, nor is LoL and WoW the "Worst" games, Its just really different type of genres and Play styles that comparing one with the other its moronic.

    Nope.

You spend energy (And the horrific amount of time setting it up... Although that was fixed a few patches ago), for mining that shet. I don't find any problem with it. (If you want to "Balance" it, make it so mining pipe have a random chance to break)

An API its just a set of hooks and tools the Devs gave you so you could make mods following what they wanted to.

But if you have the Source, you can do so much more than just adding recipes to the various machines or making crop cards or just adding a new block to the e-net.

I usually ignore all those question because honestly i don't find any need for Story/Realism beyond making the machines to act like their real life counterparts. The second reason its to make the idea much more simple and easy to digest.

Im just basically suggesting a Q-Table like thaumcraft but less randomly and based on economy rather than just placing several stacks of cobblestone and see what i get with it...

The third option would be to make Pre-Generated "Industrial" Villages, depending on how advanced they are, the more technology they sell to you.

Why not help the testificate then?

    >Find Village
    >Make a 4x4 or 5x5 house full of bookcases a bed and some light
    >"Researcher" testificate spawn in the house after X time
    >The more IC2 items the testificate have (Like Generators, macerators, luminators, batbox, etc), the better the plans he can sell to you.

Something like Thaumcraft research but only obtainable by buying the plans instead of using brains and bookshelf?
Sorry the question... but from who/what u buy this plans? if u craft it who put in there the knowledge that u need to buy?

A "Researcher" testificate or NPC (You have to find a village of course), he does the research for you, you only have to pay him.

Alternatively plans could also be found in dungeons or pyramids chests.
