yup, pretty certian that there isn't any Block ID conflicts there.
Though you may want to look at RedPower 2 as well, there's some nice things you can do with that that you can't do with BC. Course there's also some nice BC addons too. (see the addon section on the buildcraft site)
I can't wait to be able to use the logistics pipes, those look *nice* (I play on a private SMP server I run right now)

I REALLY prefer the adv. Geo-Gens from the power converters mod. BC pipe right into the genny and it just works. If you want untended with exclusively IC2, you are going to want to go with nuclear if you are also mining in the overworld, or wind/water if you aren't.

You're choices are simple. If you want untended power, you need to buy new machines (install power converters), use massive, unstable pipe systems, or go with nukes.

    unstable? suuuure they are.
In my previous world I loaded up a chest full of empty cells in the nether and after an overnight run I was greeted with a full chest of lava cells for transport back to the "normal" world.
granted I used a bucket filler and those are broke with 2.2.10 for me but one could just as easily use BC to pump lava into a tank and use a RP2 deployer.

There is a line in the config that allows you to set the value of certain ores. It might be possible to add other block ID's there to make it mine those too. But that is just a maybe!

more than a maybe, it works fine. I've got the miners here set for all of the RP2 ores (forgot to turn off RP2's copper and tin, oops..) as well as Forestry's apatite ore. Picks them all up fine. Damage values are represented by a colon. (aka: 140:1, 140:2, etc..)

to the OP: do yourself a favor and install the mods you want by hand, you'll get a better end product than the giant theft that the tecnic pack is.

Wouldn't you prefer to have a more efficient fuel source than coal? I mean, I also agree that all this magic crap is....well, crap. But even so, you should still be able to use things involved in magic in industrial things too. Apart from glowstone, there's no real reason to go to the nether, so if you add blaze rods as a viable fuel source, that (slightly :/) gives you a reason to go to the nether. Besides, I'm pretty sure that not all industrial craft users aren't entirely against magic, so it's not fair we completely alienate those people's interests in Minecraft with this mod.

Meh? I never use straight coal in a generator. too valuable for that. Even then I only use charcoal in a generator for a relatively short time until I get something a bit more renewable online.

as to magic... makes *no* sense whatsoever given the previous history of the game.

I just ripped Headhunters setup. Spawned in a snow biome and figured the constant need to clean solars would make it less enjoyable, so I built wind for the first time and I gotta say....I have a lot more excess energy than before.

Yeah, wind + a pair of HV transformers (with optional MV and LV transformers) works great for providing power.
Does need periodic fixing if you used tin cables but once I got the diamond for it I started replacing failed ones with glass fiber. (technically one could use copper and a bunch of bat-boxes as well)
a bit expensive to set up the wind on the top of the world but totally worth it. Not to mention cheaper than solar to boot, plus the whole power at night thing :)

PS: Some worth-less items may generate scrap never or otherwise far less than 1/8 rate. IE sticks. Infinite cobble production is the easiest viable option for building an RP2 based device, and there is probably a buildcraft version of it too (most basic miner?); though you can always do IC2 + BC2 if you power the miner...

I think glass panes may have been added to the no scrap list. not certain about that though.

as to the BC version: I generally used a 2x1 (Width x Length) quarry on top of an equally sized cobble generator. It works but nowhere near as fast as the RP2 version.

Try inserting a /stack/ of items. Scrap is only generated a small fraction of the time.

/\ This. I've got many recyclers on a private SMP server. the 5 stacks of scrap boxes waiting to be used attest to their working fine.

*not* using that many by hand, thanks... haven't gotten around to setting up a dispenser system yet

Nah i meant IC2 1.43 but the rest is correct. That is the version i had on hand at the moment and i needed a server ASAP. Do you know how NOT ASAP it is to download Redpower and BC?!? I didn't have those files for server but i did have the other files easily available and the 1.43 server is easy to find and get because THANK GOD it isn't buried under a FU**ING ad site that makes the mod author 0.00000000+E9001 cents per click.

That's why I love adsfight... utterly bypasses those annoying as heck services :) (it's a greasemonkey script for FireFox/Seamonkey)

I downloaded the laptop version at my friend's place and the desktop version at my own place, still a no-go =(

"laptop version"? there is no "laptop version"
anyway: reinstall the latest version of Java, try it on a different machine, check your hardware. (memtest86 for many hours to check for memory problems for example)

"blown out of proportion"? Not really, the Tecnic pack person basically has admitted to outright stealing of other's work without permission. This is utterly wrong in more ways than one and should be stopped. Doesn't matter what their motivations are.

I apologize. I was unaware of the change in silk touch, and the compressor hadn't crossed my mind, but the point still stands. Water mills are viable power in the nether.

not really... maybe with bucket filler but that one's rather broken at the moment. (won't load for me server side)
Anyway, I had a manned water mill setup with RP2 deployers. Worked fine until I let it run overnight. In the morning it was mysteriously broken (no power, buckets weren't cycling) so I ripped that setup out and put in a couple water filters or whatever they're called from Power Converters. That's thankfully been working fine.
