I was unable to get my dialog box to provide any feed back, but the basic 'Farm' on my server refuses to accept dirt or seeds. After inserting them, they will display in the gui, but exiting and right clicking the ground or moving my inventory will bamf them back...
I can provide screenshots if necessary.

When I started out i was anxious for mutations as well. It does take a while for them to show up. It may have been coincidence, but it seemed like crossbreeds happened faster for me when I left the two plants I was breeding at the highest level of maturity.

Are you planning on implementing mushrooms and/or mushroom crossbreeds?
Lots of potential ideas for such things, not sure if this is where to put them though...
