Excatly. Because you are unlikely to make a MFSU instantly, in comparison to making an MFE.

I like it.
It would help teach people about the voltage system, and since you are unlikely to jump from T1 to T3 instantly, the chance of exploding from lack of knowledge is low.

Please update this as soon as you get time. I really hate constantly replacing treetaps.

I agree that Zip might want to clean up the test item that's still there, but more to the point I was illustrating the risks of using the "gimme" function in an inventory editor like TMI or NEI.
Soetimes unexpected things can happen or the game can crash.Heh, And then we notice that we can cheat up batteries, energy crystals, and laptron crystals, and then complain to alblaka about how they wont work for crafting.
Yep, Makes me think that the FAQ should have this warning, so I can just post "Read the FAQ"

I would suggest waiting until we get Construction foam coating for wires.

Basically it does. But not to fix, but to implement something to change this from happen.
Because this isn't a bug, but a missing feature. A BatPack, a JetPack and everything else you wear is basically an armor-item. If they run out of energy the are threated like being some kind of armor without durability. This just means that if you are hit and wear armor that does not have durability minecraft deletes this armor.
I guess you need to modify baseclasses to change this behavior so it is up to forge to implement a "Won't get destroyed"-Hook. So it is expected but unintentional behavior.
Did you know that back in Ic1, drills broke on depletion?
Did you know that the same was true of batpacks?
Did you know that this was not the case reciently in singleplayer for Ic2?
Did you know that Vanilla armor system got an overhaul reciently, For 1.0?
Did you know that Ic2 for 1.0 was merely a port, without any new features, just bugfixes (that were known)?Knowing this, I think it quite likely that the new armor system broke the code for Ic2 armor damage catching.
And if this is in multiplayer, It never worked to begin with.

Yes a bug, and I am pretty sure it requires a mineforge update to fix.

Alright, all of these discussions seem to have totally missed the initial topic. Why are UUM recopies secret. I did NOT ask What UUM is, How to make it cheaply, What makes it OP, or how to mass produce it, or produce infinite items etc etc.
-
Nope. Both armors break when after depleted. Thanks to the local lava pool plus local creepers. (TMI'd both suits but doesn't matter. Didn't want to lose my legit Quantum Suit. )
Yes, I know it can still break. However, if you swim in lava, I find it likely, that without deathchest, you will tend to have that suit ITEM fall in the lava and vanish. Creeper explosions also destroy items, although a single one will not.
Oh, and just because it has more durability, does not mean you cannot deal the same kind of fatal damage the nanosuit takes to die. It just takes more.
Of course they break after depleted, haven't you been listening? There is a bug where the damage hook for armor does not properly prevent fatal armor damage for energy armor.
Oh, and have any of you ever tried on a pair of diamond boots, then suicided without severe overkill? Did you notice that the diamond boots survived? That is because of high durability. It did not actually take enough damage to be destroyed, for basically the same reason a normal diamond pick axe does not break after mining a block of iron.
Same deal with the quantum suit, due to the hook bug.

While plasma certainly does exist in atmosphere(heard of lightning?), and while it most certainly can be stored in a magnetic bottle(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/magnetic+bottle), I really do not think that it is reasonable to make a plasma pickaxe.

Can anyone explain the reasoning as to why this is the case?

Well use the older version of industrialcraft, which is for 1.8, but dont expect any support.
-
Dont use TMI to test anything. This should be in the FAQ. (but isn't, causing all sorts of grief)
Only the first machine for any ID will show up in TMI, the rest are occluded, due to the way forge uses the ID values.
I suggest you use NEI, which works fine.
Alternatively, Cheat up the materials, and manually craft them, and it will almost certainly work, unless it is an actual bug,
-
Obviously everytime someone posts on these forums they should add "Minecraft and Industrial craft is a game, it doesn't have to make sense to a real life engineer"
However, i do agree with you. Current is what melts cables and kills people, not voltage.
And i have suggested this change in the past but have yet to see any support for it. People like their wonky mechanics because they base their "hax designs" on the very same mechanics.EDIT: And dammit, learn to quote right!
Gah, I dropped it again. That tends to happen sometimes when I try to avoid massive quote pyamids, I remove the wrong tags, or whatever.

Why cant we just get an Ore Scanner, which shows, say,
4 Diamonds
283 coal
24 iron
36 copper
3 uranium
12 tinEtc, like that?
Would be somewhat useful -

Lol, Turns out, geothermal power is far more OP than solar ever was.
Or at least if you take the (often considered required) buildcraft mod, where you just take a simple coal powered pump, and suck up a few tanks worth of lava, fill cells, take to overworld (this is in nether btw) and just produce ****tons of power.

Well so far my Quatum armor (At least the boots armor 2 expensive ) hasnt dissapeared even when i dip on lava or simply get killed, unlike the nano armor when i always lost it when i got killed or lava, or by a mob or when i fall over high distances.
Hmm, Maybe this is because quantum armor has far more DUrability, Because of it's higher energy capacity?
-
not a solution really. a Nano-Saber finishes a creeper off in one hit. A chainsaw requires at least two which sometimes is one too many.I thought it dealth 8 damage, meaing 12.5 with a crit. How did you get 15 damage?
Oh, nvm, I see. Creepers did NOT get a recienlt health buff.
