MadMax2910 that is my tutorial! xD If you are looking for a more compact design you should look at this.
It does move in all directions and it is 4x5x5 (it has a minor problem but you can fix it by making it 5x5x5), it is similar to the green one at the beginning of my tutorial (the one I didn't explain) but it is much less complex to wire and has a very important feature: if you extend the motors you can still move in the other directions. Your project is looking good so far.

I would actually advise against using cables in general, MV tranfromers, though harder to make, will at least ensure you keep a proper voltage running through your setup, if you use cables of whatever kind, your max workable output is 40 blocks (For the loss for both Glass fibre and Tin is 1 EU/40 blocks). Not a whole lot for an infinite solar-spam-o-tron.
With a computer you can place both cables and storage units, spacing them how you prefer (you could even tell it to space the units based one the Fibonacci sequence but to restart at F9 ) :D. I would like to compete but I'm currently working over a similar but not related project .
I apologize for my English. -
I used to play SS13 a lot =). While I consider myself quite good in what you are seeking I'm not a valid candidate for the fact that I tend to drop projects pretty often (I usually restart working on them months later), so I will not propose myself =P. I have few questions about this project: in SS13 there are different roles (aka jobs) you can fit in each round, are you going to implement them? If so, how would you do things like the scientist and chemist? There would be mechanics like wet floor, poop and the pull from the free space? Are you going to remove things like the different Z-levels? I love what you are doing and I'm interested if and how you are going to add to minecraft all the complicated features offered by SS13. I have a suggestion about the classes: could be possible to handle them like Dwarfs Vs Zombies does? (check it on youtube, is a "game mode" made with bukkit).
I apologize for my English.
ps: Donut 2 Station FTW!

I made a tutorial for whoever out there is still having problem making omnidirectional inchworm engine =)

Don't know if the IC2's vocabulary changed but back in beta 1.8 I remember people using the word "tick" refered to the reactor's tick (1 second long as you said).

Today I decided to scrap my old design and start a new one, I must say that my work with it is going way faster than I expected.
This is what I got so far:
I hope the image is resized automatically xD.
This is engine right now can only move in the axis X and Z (both directions) but I plan to had Y soon. The contraption is 7x7x3 and it requires only four covers (the cross in the middle, the center doesn't need a cover). Right now it's controlled by 4 clocks and 4 levers (the T flip-flop) but I planned to remove them and use a computer instead. In terms of blulectricity it can't travel forever, but based on test when fully charged it can travel many in game days (I think more than 30 for sure) in a single direction before stopping, pretty good .
Once the engine is completed I will add the miners and make a legit submission.I apologize for my English.

so the cropmatron can overuse the WeedEx, this is a terrible information for my tests!
-
I haven't done it myself, but I assume that you just have to add another caterpillar engine or whatever kind of engine that makes it move forward but make it face backward, then you can turn it on and it goes backward I should add it to my bore...
it's not that easy, when one of the two is moving it messes up the other one. I'm trying to avoid any redstone logic and this doesn't make things easier
edit: done without any logic =)
-
Alblaka can you post a screenshot or give a basic explanation how it works? I'm having an hard time adding the "backward" direction

http://test.vendaria.net/index…XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX</a>Simpler and cheaper, still 1 heat
Edit: Anyone tried making BC fill watermills with water? 2eu/t is quite neat...
I tried, the design is not so hard, I can't show it right now because I'm using vanilla minecraft right now (I have a backup of the modded minecraft folder if I have to show it).

bump, i've used it for about 10 cycles now and it seems to be a good setup for noobs. Once you've got all the iridium plates you need you can start doing things like forcefields and teleportations (i use 2 mfsus btw)
the best design for 4 uranium cells in a square right now is this:
http://test.vendaria.net/index…CCHCCCCCCCHCHHCCCCCCCHCHCmade by dezuman.
-
It got lower eff thus it produces less eu per uranium cell
Sorry, I was referring to the design made by Urbanshadow.
edit: whoopsy, I uploaded the wrong design xD (the one I made wrong lol).
-
If you want to have less chambers you can use this:
http://test.vendaria.net/index…HXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXit's mark I and it has efficiency 2.33. It produces less Eu/t, but more EU per uranium Cell.
-
I don't know how to reactors are named but your design is a Mark I for sure.
The efficiency of your design is not very good, but if you want to keep this uranium pattern try to use this:
http://test.vendaria.net/index…HCCHCUCCUUCCHHCCHCCXXXXXXYou have to always try to use HDs in the most efficient way (i'm not good at it, but I still lowered the number of them) because they are expensive so you would prefer to get the best from them. The basic Idea is to not share a coolant cell between two or more HDs and to always try to have 3 or 4 coolant cells next to them.
If you have the possibility to add another chamber you may try this design:
http://test.vendaria.net/index…CCCHCCHHCCHCCCCCCCHCHCCHCIt has the same output in terms of EU/t as your, but it uses 2 less uranium cells (eff: 2.5). Remember it is a mark II reactor.
PS: my designs are not perfect, there is a lot of room for improvements.
Edit: my second design has 2 coolant cells that aren't touching any HD so the Heat surplus is 5 not 3.
I apologize for my English.

To get perfect heat balance, so it won't cool down. A cold breeder is a slow breeder
I don't understand how this designs have perfect heat balance, can you explain to me what do you mean and how this result is obtained? from what I can see they are bulding up heat.
-
I have a question: I thought only depleted cells next to an uranium cell would be recharges, so why you are using more depleted cells in your design?
-
Hi all new to this. But was playing around and found a new layout i am going to do a test run on it but here it is for you to see. It looks like it will get hot fast from the start but it slows down fast.
http://test.vendaria.net/index…CCCCCCCHCHHCHCCCCCCCHCCHC
Hope it's a good one.
three cooling cells will melt after 2000 reactor ticks then it will start to build a lot of heat.

Alright i have a problem with iron fence elevators. If i put a charged magnetizer on top of a pole, everyone who is trying to climb the pole, can't climb it up and will lose hp. Anyone has an idea what my problem is?
how much is the pole long?

How mobs spawn is changed in minecraft beta 1.8.1: new spawn system.

Or use tin cables. They're specificially meant for low-voltage over distance. They can transfer 1, 2 or 3 EUt packets along 40 blocks without any losses.
I would love a very low voltage transformer xD.
