Give the Force Field-generator the ability to generate a field with it on the outside of the field. Similar to defining an area in BC, the Force Field-generator would create its field around the defined area (and lacking a sufficient amount of input, wouldn't generate anything). If no area was defined, it just creates an area around itself like normal.
[Suggestion] External Field Generator

I was thinking that too.

Actually, on further thought, you wouldn't even have to define an area externally. You could just add a slot to the Force Fieldgenerator, and upon filling it with X number of <predefined blocks> (say glass) would create a cube with sides of X in the direction of facing you were when you placed it. If zero blocks where input it would create the field centered on itself as normal.
