I was reading the wiki and it says that water blocks in a 3x3x3 area around the reactor contribute to cooling..does this mean within 3x3x3 of any chamber? Or just the central reactor block? Also, I was curious as to how many layers of reinforced stone is sufficient to contain a meltdown? Thanks!
Question about water surrounding a reactor?

Only 3x3x3 area around central reactor block. Chambers don't increase the area.

Thanks!

Make a obsidian wall around the reactor its more resistant to explosion. Unless you use a ton of uranium it wont break.

obsidian was nerfed in IC2. now it is weaker than reinforced stone. you need three layer of reinforced stone to completly contain full reactor explosion.

I have tasted and about 5 layers should stop the melt down

I use obsidian 2 blocks thick and nuclear explosion doesnt go through it only when the obsidian melts (but hey 1 hole in it wont do much damage..). Another thing i noticed is that the reinforced stone behind the hole did break thus obsidian>reinforced stone. Prolly got changed back i guess.

Are you Saying that Obsidian Needs to Layers Instead of One. And that It is now Breakable?
If So that's a Bit Worrying.
And Another thing. To patch up the hole where the wire and redstone etc come out you just turn the wire in another direction immediately then you have a Obsidian Block 1 Block away from the hole. So if there is a Meltdown/Explosion then it Would still be contained. This is what I mean.
