Question: How do I use batbox with windmills?

  • Hello, I'm new to this mod and love it but there's alot in it and I'm baffled by the "batbox" I've made one and can easily power it using a generator but when I hooked it up to a windmill (cable going directly from the bottom of the windmill to the top of the batbox) it didn't power the batbox. To make sure the windmill was working I put a RE battery in it and it was charged.

I thought it may be because I had mislinked the windmill to the batbox but using an identical setup with a generator it does get powered. I seem to have the same problem with the solar panel. I tried looking on the wiki but I didn't find anything about how to link them together.

I would greatly appreciate help, thank you.

  • Usually the main issue for "Cables not working!" is actually a lot easier than it seems. Make sure you're not pointing the cable into the Output of the batbox. This can be known by the little "Dot."

Use a wrench (wiki It, if you don't know it.) and right click on the batbox somewhere else so the dot points to an open area\or to an area where you want to power something. the "Dot" represents the output. Here's an example: --- represents a cable. < represents output. > represents input. = Represents the power source. Here's what you're trying to do, most likely. =---<.

Another common issuee: the power in a cable drains over time. For example: I made a cable 20 long using a glass fibre cable. Because of it's efficiency, it doesn't lose any power but 1 EU. If I make a cable 20 long using Copper cable, it will lose 4 EU, 1 per every 5 blocks\units of cable.

Hopefully, this has resolved your issue. The cabling is very confusing at first, but it gets easier later on.

  • it seems to have been the distance, originally there were 4 copper cables but the power didn't reach, when i reduced that to 1 it started powering the batbox. Thanks for your help
