Question relating to Integrated Heat Disperser

  • Hiya~

Discovered IC² a week or so ago and have been having a blast with it. I finally got to the point where I can start playing around with a nuclear reactor, but I had a question about one of the components:

On the wiki it says the Integrated Heat Disperser can "add or subtract up to 6 heat from surrounding elements". Is this 6 heat per pulse in total, or 6 heat per pulse per element?

Ie: If I have a IHD that sucks up 25 heat from the reactor hull, and surround that with 4 cooling elements, does it distribute that 25 heat evenly among all 4 elements (ie 6 to each), or does it only distribute 6 heat (1 to each?) and suck up 19 heat itself?

    Thanks~

  • It's 6 per surrounding cooling element, the IHD will attempt to average out the heat in the hull, itself and the surrounding components. There will be slight differences in heat levels in the components but they should all be roughly at the same level.

  • Ah, fantastic. That should make things a little easier.

Numbers are generally rounded down, right? If, for example, a Coolant Cell recieves 1.5 heat, that counts as 1?

  • Heat levels are stored as Integers (round numbers only), any remainders get left on the IHD. Which is why you see IHDs sitting with 1 heat point on them even if you leave the reactor off for a long time.

  • Thanks for the quick answers, this should help quite a bit.

    *edit*

One last question: Do elements cool down if they're in your inventory or in a chest, or do they have to be in the reactor?
