For industrialcraft², will you have to take resin from rubber trees using a bucket?
That would be more realistic and then you would have to smelt the bucket of resin ,but it doesn't get rid of the bucket.

Nope, you will use te treetap to gain some sticky resin from a rubber tree and can then smelt/extract that to rubber.
