Quick Question about Breeders

  • Do breeder reactors still replenish Isotope cells if they are not generating EU? I'm using one of the configurations on this forum, but I don't have any energy storage devices or machines connected to the Reactor - it's running on it's own. The components still seem to be taking heat, and the uranium cells are going down, but it doesn't seem like the Isotope cells are charging at all.

  • your problem is simpel and easy to explain,

NO, the isotope cells will not recharge unles there is an active uranium cell adjacent to it.

you components are heating up becouse isotope cells generate 1 heat/tick while in an reactor (at any state)
this is good for precicely heating up an breeder and thats it,

    right, time to get serious...

  • YES !
OP stated - "The components still seem to be taking heat, and the uranium cells are going down."
Breeder doesn't have to be connected to any energy storage to run. Energy produced is just wasted, but everyting is running as it should.

Edit: mijnboogje is right, but he didn't answer your question, since you clearly have Uranium cells in your breeder.

no RaGan i did answer the question, the uranium cell must be present to charge the isotope cell and the stated "when the generator doesnt produce EU" linking that to an empty reactor (no fuel) it means it wont charge.

simply puted, if you have uranium in the reactor it wont matter if you produce EU or not, the uranium is present and pulsing so the isotope cells get charged.

  • "and the uranium cells are going down" - I took this as "Yes, uranium cells are there".

Wrong question was asked, I agree.

wel, seems i misread the main post ;) my mistake sorry
