If you shoot your mining-laser until it's empty and then remove 1 or 2 blocks (dirt, gravel, etc.) without shooting (with mining-laser equiped) the mining-laser will be destroied like a normal pickaxe.
That means the mining-laser takes dmg when removing blocks without shooting. Ofcourse its not a bug but i think it should be fixed. ;)

Lol, I actually like this bug/feature. Mining lasers are delicate, highly advanced pieces of kit. Hitting them off rocks isn't exactly the best idea anyone's ever had.

sure ofc you're right (and ofcourse i didnt hit stone with it i just removed single blocks of dirt) but if u remove sand, dirt with maybe a stone block the stoneblock doesnt get destroied or?

Nope. Using anything that's not a 'tool' (e.g. pick, shovel, chainsaw, sword, etc) is the same as using your fist.
