Heh, tried it multiple times now, to no avail. I keep getting a little overheating. I managed to get it to a mark III with about 20% of a total run before cooldown. Ofcourse, you can make it a SUC type reactor, but I figure you'll want at least a mark II reactor.
20 excess heat is all I can get out of this layout of uranium. It brings the effective EU/t to 243.8. It's a Mark III with a long generation time and a sort cool down period, but still 20 heat of a Mark I.

It's a good mark 3 reactor.
Through some tinkering I managed to get the generation time up by eight minutes: Nevermind.

I am fairly certain that any reactor that needs less than about 14.5-15 cooling/free slot should be able to get to mark - 1, that one needed 14.05. Exceptions might be strange arrangements that do not allow for tilable arrangements of the gold vents, and some designs may be coolable up to a limit around 16-20 cooling/slot.
