miner places redstone dust in pump instead of chest

I have a miner set up with a pump next to it and a double chest next sitting adjacent to them so both the mine and pump can dump items into it. They both go on along happily but if the miner encounters redstone ore it places the dust in the bottom slot on the pump instead of the chest where it's been placing everything else. Is this a known issue or do I have something mucked up

Hmm the issue there is that redstone dust is a valid power provider and the miner just searches for the 1st suitable inventory, block the slot with a battery for now.
