    In compact size is only thing I can see some people having an issue with. I for one and my users have no issue with that but I could see others having it. But any server admin who actually runs a server of more then 2 people will all beg for the compact solar panels period. I'm sure xKillerbees been driving you guys crazy in the test forums for such a thing hehe.


    I mean the only thing I can see is adding new chips into the game that are costly making having them compact really really costly and having them disabled by default in the config as well. Idk I just feel like its a needed thing but your other idea sort of sounds neat but will see. Most my players have already 4-8+ of the 512 compact Solar Panels. They know SP are to powerful and its all they make. So my whole world would be like covered 100% in solar panels lmao :P

    So far i think alblaka havent said anything about it, and Solar arrays arent OP because they generate too much energy or because the materials are not expensive enough, its because you compress 512 Blocks (From the placed solar panels) + Who many other blocks of space from the tin cables.


    Thats a pretty big issue because it destroys what balanced the solar panels flowers (Having a clear view of the sky, placing them in good spots, and wiring them correctly), with solar panels arrays you just need to place one single block and not bother with it again.

    I utilize the Solar Arrays in Adv Machines in SMP, and while I definitely agree that server performance needs to be considered, I find that the upper tiers of solar arrays in this form are overpowered. It's too easy. There's no motivation for looking for alternative power like nuclear reactors if you can keep incrementally increasing your solar plant for cheap, fuel free power and just keep condensing them down into 2 or 3 blocks. There has to be a downside to balance things out, such as additionally required infrastructure or reduced efficiency.


    Also, I think we need more machines that take up significant amounts of power to run besides the mass fabricator to justify it. Because if you're building massive power farms, I can almost guarantee that 99% of that power is going straight into the massfab. Without middle tiers of power consumption there's no big need for middle tiers of power generation. Maybe the overclockers fill that role a little bit, but not really.

    Hey I have no problem having and making 40000 solar panel machines legit. What server do you play id love to ruin it for ya ;) I have never ever had a issue having massive large farm my issue is the lag it causes but I don't mind sacrificing others for my own gain :)


    I mean if they want to make it harder fine but if there going to nerf it then no one will use it and the whole point reducing lag really never actually happen.

    Yes I want to say the reason I'm posting this now is because how bad things have been going with Advance Machines. IC has added many other mods that were made for IC with a lot less popularity and this ones probably one the more easier ones let alone great on server and I would assume client performance.


    Having lets say 2000 Solar Panels sending out 2000 x 1 tick is pretty costly to cpu time. VS 4 x 512. What this means is instead of 2000 packets being sent out per tick I assume this would only be sending out 4 packets per tick and that is sure a save on cpu usage on calculations.


    Please before you turn this into a debate there is nothing to debate about. This is pretty damn legit besides some missing tin and if that is an issue then make us construct something special for the center I don't care the whole point of this is to make it newbie friendly but to actually save on performance.


    I think to many Admins are stuck with 1.0 and etc and getting tired of how bugging Advance Machines have come and it looks like the Author might have retired as well and rather then always relaying on third party I think it be nice to bring it into the IC Core. (as a option in the config)

    When you do, please make 2 packages - 1 for machines, and the other for solar arrays. - I feel advanced machines (and even the induction furnance) no longer fit IC2 well. Expecially with the power ups.

    I agree with this 2 packages would be nice!

    As I've said. I appreciate the work done. If something specifically needs to be changed about the API, not just a general it's broken statement, I can try to do my part in getting something changed. But so far I've only seen him say something in this thread once since 1.0 about needing help with something and that was answered right away. I don't understand though how SMP is broken while SSP is working.

    Yeah I been bitching about it too before. I careless about the advance machines just want the solar panel arrays for performance.



    cpw zippinus has done an amazing job and I like him a lot. But he seems busy and I don't know his personal thought of thinking. Not sure if he is someone who wants to be the only one who does a plugin like this or does not care hes just wanting to have people have what they want wherever its from...


    Problem is zippinus has not communicated this to us enough. If he says I don't have time guys/girls please feel free to use my code or ideas to create a new plugin/mod etc... We would actually be a bit more happy. Hell it might mean more delay but were trying to find a new home for stability... 1.1 I would assume is around the corner and guess what? We might just make it to 1.1 or might have to start all over again and try for 1.2.



    I would say to my players screw it even get a bukkit plugin convert items backwards and etc.... But the problem is we need the advance solar arrays for performance or we would have to pretty much ban them heh.



    Anyways please guys don't think I'm try to be an ass I love zippinus work but I wish he would offer to allow others to help him if not even take over because he seems really busy and he seems to be trying hard but a lot of us depend on this and I'm starting to think this is causing him more pain then enjoyment.

    So what is the status on SMP? It's getting to be extremely frustrating that this the only thing holding us back from updating 1-2 weeks ago.


    I do appreciate the work that has been done so far. But if you need help with the API or fixing issues, please let us know so we can help. Sitting here with nothing to work with as a server owner is frustrating.


    To be completely honest. If the solars didn't help our server the way they do, I would have removed the mod to update. But I can't force people to lose thousands of solar panels. I would even go to the point of paying someone to take the advanced solar part of the mod and make a different mod as that is the only part we care about.

    Yeah not sure whats going on. I'm not sure on the mods attentions if its someone like Eloraam then eh no point replying hehe. But if your someone who is doing for the people not for self goals maybe considering giving permission to touch it and maybe even zip up the source or through it on github and such. I bet someone would even run you a CI/Jenkins for auto compiles and more.. If you need donations I'm sure a few of us are willing. But we need to know more why its taking so long vs more complex mods and if your really busy can you state that you don't mind people doing temp versions or even taking over.
