Technically, the lag is still there even with CompactSolars, but it's substantially less noticeable than 8, 64 or 512 individual solar panels sending out 1 EU/t packets at the same time (Increased number of calculations with more packets versus lower number of Enet calculations with larger packets being sent out). Although in SSP local server, the 'lag from individual panels wouldn't be as bad as if you were playing on a server like Industrial Rage where EVERYONE was spamming the hell out of the solars and takes a toll on the server's CPU (and technically, the client's as well what with processing information sent from the server (at least I believe that this is the case)).

Are you sure a IC² 1.108 for MC 1.4.2 will work in MC 1.4.4 ?

I think Sodaguzzler did it just for the sake of saving the IC2 team some work in isolating where one of (potentially) many problems lie in the new code base in 1.4.4. Though I find it a little odd that it would throw a ClassNotFoundException pertaining to a class file that is used by IC2 internally, but that's good old nooby me talking as I am only beginning to learn Java through modding and Forge.

I really hope a hook exists or is added then since this could be quite a nice way to use up spare ruby and sapphire blocks (emerald blocks can already be used per vanilla).

Big fan of your work by the way, please keep it up :)

Well, if there isn't a hook, there might be in future versions of Forge as I decided to make a hook suggestion for the Beacon Block accepting modded gem blocks as valid over on the Minecraft Forge forums. I actually linked Greg's reply in the post as a source of sorts (so they know I'm not just pulling this one out of my ass).

If you (maxxori) and/or Greg would like to keep an eye on the thread I created for updates, here's the link: http://www.minecraftforge.net/…dex.php/topic,3424.0.html

Since your addon adds the ability to compress sapphires and rubies (via the IC compressor), would it be possible for you to make these usable in the beacon pyramid? Seems fitting since they are gems?

That would depend on if Forge has a hook for the Beacon Block (if they don't already). Personally I wouldn't mind it as an extra little thing (I usually just toy with the beacon pyramids when I get bored).

Actually, I'll keep this in mind as I am working on an addon to IC2 that'll be my first real forray into Forge modding (I don't count the base file edits I did to learn as modding) and I think the API will be all I need, but just in case, I'll remember this. Yay for Immibis creating BON (I love the name GitHub cooked up for it: Bearded Octo Nemesis :D )

I started using mod packs once. Never again. If you can install the mods yourself, do it that way. As I started using mod packs I began thinking how hard it would be to install these mods myself, when I tried it again I threw the mods together easily and ended up with a set of mods I love. It feels so nice to have a install you perfected yourself.

Had to chime in, I agree wholeheartedly with this bbqroast, modpacks are good for those who haven't the foggiest of what they're doing (in terms of operating systems, think Windows and Mac), but you have MUCH greater control over which mods are in the 'pack' when you assemble it yourself (think Linux).

At least the FTB pack exists now, to hopefully replace the 'Clusterf***' and end those damn arguments.

I have visual bug for qarry. I Defined maximum size for a quarry in a diffrent age using mystcraft. Before i supplied power i needed to grap power pipes. When i came back, the quarry size was shrinked. But when i supplied power it took the original size.

Either you're a T****** or FTB user, IC2 doesn't have a quarry, you want Buildcraft.

Not to forget the people asking for when the next update is. at least here its against the rules to ask.

Actually, the mods over on the MCF have updated the rules to act against the spamming of update requests. Unfortunately, it would seem that the moderators over there are having trouble enforcing that rule.

Come to think about it, F4113n, have you ever considered going the route that cpw took and making DeFence an independent mod? For some of the features that you're planning, you could always use the IC2 API for things like the electric fence, the plasma walls and the turrets (I'm assuming that they're going to be ran on EU).

Going independent would open this mod to a much wider audience, and it deserves the audience.

I think that the spambots are beginning to spread to the forums belonging to other Minecraft mods. Myself and a few other people have stomped a few over on the Mystcraft Forums, I have no idea about the FTB forums (in semi-related news, the FTB pack is released now), but I get the sense that it could very well be messy over there.

As Greg said: "The spambomb is just exploded!"

Though I've never been one to use the Terraformer, I can definitely support this (I'll vote this up shortly).

The one thing that chased me away from using that thing is the EU cost, personally, it's almost like the Mass Fab, just chews through the EU like a dog through a shoe.

Just short question: Is there a particular reason this mod isn't compatible with ID Resolver? Forge does not auto assign Block and Item IDs, and with now 42 Mods installed it would be just silly to manually change all the Item IDs...

Actually Forge does auto-assign block & item ID's (I know the blocks for sure, not so much about items), IDR seems to screw that up.

If memory serves, Greg wrote his own ID resolver similar to how Eloraam wrote her own for Redpower2.

HOIC is a fork of LOIC with added features from what I know

Primary among those added features are the "booster scripts."

Dear god, I just read that article and now I have to see what HOIC looks like. I found LOIC to be very effective. To think that HOIC is an improved version gives me a shivers. And you are an evil human being, I just downloaded it, I know have to resist the temptation to take it for a test drive. Not that I would ever do such a thing, but are the IC2 forums & wiki HOIC & LOIC proofed?

Anyway, this is way off topic. Back to creating my own custom Minecraft skin and totally not digitally nuking the shit out of stuff.

A lot of internet servers know how to deal with the LOIC, but very few can deal with an HOIC attack as far as I know.

Its LOIC btw. Low Orbit Ion Cannon, no idea why that name was chosen, but damn is it cool sounding. I once downloaded LOIC just for fun. Turns out that shit works. I targetted by own website, needless to say it worked. I am glad that Forge is getting all that traffic, and that the changelogs are still available, I need to read those things to see when bugs get fixed.

I'm well aware of the LOIC. I just remember reading about a modified version of the Low Orbit Ion Cannon somewhere that was apparently a hell of a lot more efficient and powerful than the LOIC being called the High Orbit Ion Cannon. I'll look around for the article.

I tested the LOIC myself as well and my god that thing took down the website belonging to...well, that's another story.

Pointless to say, I'm glad that Forge is getting all of this attention.
