Well, do keep in mind that this IS Minecraft, so the absurd does run rampant.
But, on topic, the wrench was added so that the player had to think about the placement of the machine in question. Honestly, I like the mechanics of this. It's adds a more... personal touch to the game (besides building), if you will. If I break my expensive teleporter or reactor, then it was definitely my fault, and am 'punished' by having to rebuild it.
But, all in all, I'm pretty sure the wrench is here to stay.

How did you get that information in the top left of those screenshots? Time, biome and such? What mod is that?

I like this idea! I only play on servers where people don't break things or steal things, and it seems that if you allow people to break things there's basically nothing you can do to protect anything (even obsidian doesn't really help very much), but I still like thinking about ways to protect areas in the hypothetical "stealing OK, breaking illegal" universe. This led me to make a combination lock for my vanilla-server base's front door, which I leave open most of the time because it's irritating otherwise, but I like the item-key idea as well. Some simple redstone circuits could make it exponentially more difficult to attack by requiring a sequence of items to be deposited instead of just one.
So essentially several AND circuits so that when all circuits are powered, the door opens? Something to that effect?

TBH I wish that Forge would do away with ModLoader completely, no offense to the author though. I run Linux and this whole ordering problem is just plain annoying.
-
If you use it right, some of the machines from RedPower can do these things easily.

sure I don't object as long as they put a link back to here and my name
sure kane i'll try to add it in the next update (however i've never made a properties file before so i can't promise anything)
Make sure to look into creating a ModLoader config, not a Forge one. The brackets in the Forge one scare the s*** out of me.

Grab Damn that Done Button. Will fix it right up.
Edit: The problem's not with IC2, more so with Modloader adding input keys to the Controls Menu from Mods. The above mod fixes that issue fairly well (Modloader doesn't move the Done button to compensate for the added Controls).
Thanks Adien. I've had this problem too, this will finally clear the headache I have.

Not entirely sure on the Mac install process, but I think Mac's love the META-INF folder.
Try something along the lines of TFC mod manager to install what you need to the JAR, then run MC, hopefully it'll work.
Sorry I can't be much more help, I'm not used to Macs.

Can't wait for the 1.23 version.
I understand the whole "not having enough time" thing, take it easy ice. This is an amazing mod.
-
excellent idea i will implement it into the next version of biodiamonds tomorrow
I can smell another video for this update.

Do you want a video for this mod? I'll work on this before I work on the Reactor add-on.

Graphene and diamond are different allotropes of carbon. I chose graphene (which I assume is the allotrope in IC2's carbon plates) for use in this mod because its lattice is a flat sheet and many real-life Type II superconductors (which tend to operate at higher temperatures than Type I) are made by layering different conductive materials.
Less scientific answer: Remember that the recipe is for a single superconducting cable - in vanilla IC2 a single diamond gets you twelve glass fiber cables, which only lose 1EU every 20 blocks. Superconductor isn't that much of an improvement.
You have a point there, my chemistry and physics are way out of whack. Back to the books....

This looks pretty cool, albeit very confusing. I think that the only thing in this add-on that IC2 needs is the superconductor wire. (having no energy loss would be great) Although I think if it going to have no energy loss (which would change the face of IC servers forever) it should be a lot more expensive.
I concur, instead of the carbon plate, how about a "pure" diamond considering that super-heated and compressed carbon (if my chemistry is right) is naturally conducive to electricity.
But, off that subject, this looks to be one heck of a mod, I'll download it but I won't have time to test till tomorrow. Also, once I get a chance to read the OP through fully, I'll see about making a video for this mod. Seems like fun.
-
I think there should be a cooking process before the final compression. (because compressing that stuff into diamonds does not make much sense.)
This makes some sense, considering diamonds are a "pure" carbon structure, heating in a furnace could burn away any impurities, then the compression stage.

I can try to make some tiles for them later, I was contemplating doing a buildcraft/redpower set but I realized they don't pull texturepacks like IC does, so I'll have to wait for those.
But yea I'll make some for those possibly, no promises, but it'll give me something else to work on
Thanks man. It's getting to the point now, where I can't play IC2 without this pack.

I'll work on a demo vid for this too if you want. The Bio Diamonds one is still in the works.

I know that mod but 1 block big elevator is just too small.
I think big elevators (like 5x5) fits IC2 better.
And i love zipline mod, but its only for 1.7.3.In that sense, BetterThanWolves apparently has elevators spanning up to 5x5 (I think)
