I remember the skychest times with EE2 and alot of other tech mods (IC² old cheap UUM).

Also UU is meant for rare material production, like iridium. The other mats are if you feel like achieving "creative" from your base without doing anything else than generating tons and tons of power.
-
UUM is not meant for fuel production. Although you have the ability to produce it for whatever you wish (for example, breeding plutonium for RTGs).

I agree with aka. EqEx (and AM2) kind is too magicky. TC is the limit of acceptable hextech in my opinion.

Make "advanced" machine blocks require steel plates and that should be enough.
A new recipe for steel production would be required though. Maybe a new multiblock machine which uses geothermal power to make steel while using coal as "catalyst". -
Its OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAND!!!

You can always change generators eu generation to 0 in configs. It'll still burn things but will not make a single eu. And re enable generators in GT.Pleeeeeeeeeeeease? I NEED MAH WINDMILLS, even if they are shitty.

May be GregoriousT and Player just should merge IC2 and GregTech together and call this chimera "IC3". And add 3 modes "Hard mode", "Easy mode" and "Very-very-very easy mode".
"hard mode", "easy mode" and "FTB mode"

Maybe basic machines can be made of regular iron, then advanced machines would be made of steel (advanced machine block) and the adv alloy n carbon.

I'm not using GT 4 (for 1.6) anymore, hence i can't give you an exact answer. Your best bet is to look on NEI. (type "empty cell" on the search bar and press "R" while your mouse is over the empty cell item)
Try the following : 2 tin item casing on a plate bending machine.

if i recall you plate bend it, dont you have NEI to check the recipe?
