I was wondering about another thing... In most youtube videos and screenhots here and there I see people having a multiplayer chunk cache of around 425 or something. However, mine on my local server is pretty rediculously high at 625.. I sometimes see spikes on chunk updates to 4000!!! No idea why as the only few chunk loaders (dimensional anchors) I have only chunkload a small area.
Is there any way to bring that MP chunk limit down since I think that might also speed up things?

Sounds intersting although I cannot undestand why he would make it #forge 1230 compatible since this version is ancient.
Not sure if I should be using this.. Alpha version, patching forge classes (and since I'm running #1286 of forge no telling what it will corrupt or do).

It appears to do a pretty good job... It almost got rid of the every 1 or 2 second lag spikes I've been hunting for days (with no success)...
Flying around and moving around does feel smoother.

No, Like I said, it is very subjective.. More like a feeling.. I didn't run 1.17 for very long because it crashed my server. Haven't had a crash with 1.18 and playing with it for a few days now I cannot say it runs worse than 1.16..
Fastcraft is an essential part of my modpack now. That and optifine ofc because without optifine I wouldn't even be playing modded MC.
BTW.. these forums are a bit borked.. keeps on showing 0 post count.. LOL.
So yeh, subjectively speaking after using the 1.18 since release now I feel there is quiet a bit more stuttering/lag (even in an overworld with not many chunks discovered and no machines at all) which appeared a lot smoother before.
There appears to be quiet a bit of spiking even with optifine/smooth setting. I get the feeling both are not playing well together although leaving either one out appears to be no option...
But could be the giant redwood tree sitting within visual range of my overworld spawn area.
Yeah got one of my first crashes with fastcraft with version 1.17 as well.. Think the crashlogs were similar to the ones posted.
1.18 runs so far without crashes but I've noticed quiet a bit more chopiness/lag spikes with it so far.. Not 100% of course if it is related but 1.16 and before appeared to run better...
I have to admit, it is rather subjective and hard to measure so I'll give 1.18 a spin for a couple of days. 
But great work on one of the most useful mods in MC!
He said that in August back when fastcraft was something brand new. Surely the mod is in a better state than it was when it was new.
Player, can you let me know what your current reasoning is for keeping fastcraft from being distributed, or if you plan on changing distribution rights soon or any time in the future?
Did you not read the post before you?? Seems logical enough.. The mod is experimental.. Including it in modpacks will open up cans of worms you can't imagine. The same goes for optifine since it also gives people a lot of problems.
Personally I haven't had a single big issue with fastcraft... It is amazing.
You have to open it in VisualVM, otherwise it's just partially compressed binary data
I can't see anything too unusual, just quite high on the entity and tile entity rendering and Optifine may have non-ideal synchronization with its update thread, blocking for quite a bit.
Thanks player for taking a look. Yeah I read it can be opened in visualvm but I need to install the JDK for it.. I'll do that in just a bit.
Leaving optifine out is a no go because then the chopiness and framerates suffer so much it is unplayble (for me)... But who knows maybe optifine will get an updated release someday because it doesn't work well with the latest versions of forge.
What is troubling is that when I enable the lag meter on F3, every half a second I see these huge big red lined spikes... At the times the stutters occur... grr.

Thanks for the update player.. The 1.16 does indeed run and fix the problems with 1.14/1.15..
I also noticed black holes quiet frequently in the past but learned to live with them.. I will fiddle a bit with that that JVM parameter and see what it does.

Can I give you one question though which you might have an answer too..?
I'm running on a pretty nice computer (i7-3770K, GTX 670, 16 gigs of ram, win 8.1 /ubuntu 64-bit) and eventhough I'm running well over 150 fps at times ( usually have vsync on though) or at 70 fps constant I still suffer very frequent (minor) stutters.. Very noticable though and very annoying.
CPU load/gpu load is by far not maxed... I would think that at vsync 60 or non vsync 60/70 fps constant you shouldn't see any stuttering/tearing in the game...
Like many I have registered here just to say a big thank you to player for his awesome job with fastcraft.. This has made my modded experience SO much more enjoyable. Great work!
However... I cannot get the version 1.15 to run on my local modded server.. It crashes my client when I logon to the server.
My server keeps running and doesn't crash.. It's the client when I try to connect. I'm running a mostly FTB DW20 1.71 pack with the default minecraft launcher, optifine.. All mods updated.. running forge #1277.
