It certainly looks like a GUI ID conflict. Could be the mod that is it conflicting with doesn't have the GUI IDs listed in their config file.
Yea i Had a similar problem i changed the gui ids on both to a different unused number problem solved for me at least.

Hi!, in SMP, when I try to see inside an engine, first it show the correct energy menu, but after 1 second or less, a black box override that windows and I cannot see anymore if it is powered or not (via gui menu). Is this a bug? or a bad configuration? (I try to search this in a thread with no success). It happend only with small electric engines.
theres a gui id confllict it wont crash your game but thats the result you have to go in at change the gui id so that there the same for server and singleplayer and there not conflicting with another mod

Well it seems to have worked its self out i guess i might have been something to do with last night and the simpleServer wrapper is all i can think of it probably gave me that error around the same time that the authentication server on minecraft.net went down, because after that the SimpleServer Wrapper went nuts. i ran the test server i have that just had ic2 on it in offline mode and bam i can get resin from the tree and make a wrench. this morning running my normal server in online mode with the ic2 bc forestry railcraft it worked again yay. Not too sure what the change was because since the new release till last night it would drop me when i crafted a
