They can. See what SpwnX said, then consider the fact I managed on my last game to get 90 diamonds mining less than 6 hours. You just need a Fortune Pickaxe.

Then you're wrong. I would use it, because I often forget to use breeding, I'm too lazy for that, and because the Coal to Diamonds recipe is way too expensive to be used, especially with TC3 Thaumium Pickaxe with Repair II, Unbreaking III, Efficiency V and FORTUNE III (I never managed to get Efficiency IV and Fortune IV instead, however ^^)
I don't use Thaumcraft, have no idea what a FTBM is, and a quarry takes Diamonds and tons of energy. So yes, I do have a hard time.

You mean, 20 minutes with a TC3 Thaumium pickaxe ? (you'll get way more than that). Or maybe 10 without doing anything with a FTBM ? Even a quarry would take less than an hour to give you that man ...
Now I don't know about you but that is a CRAZY huge load of resources needed and my opinion is that this all balances the mod out.
That's, basically, the amount of ressources needed to build it without the compactness, and using tons of Diamonds for efficient cabling, + tin. And it takes way more space. But, we can't argue on that. DW20 modpack isn't the same game than others, even if others modpack are already too easy due to OP mods (to me).

That's called "Alumentum". Not that efficient on mobs, but will oneshot you if you launch it on your feets
Because of the Mod Balance with other mods not really being interesting, making its bee system OP.
At least, the bee system is cool, in Hard Mode and without Extrabees ... but the ways it adds to generate EU are way easier than IC²-vanilla ways (think to Treefarms + Biogas Engine and such)

I think it would be cool if this stuff had really cool effects, I mean enough to makes it a goal in itself (as Agriculture is, even if it's just for "smart" people ^^). And I need a way to produce energy with it (and, btw, not to waste tin to fill it with Water, because yeah, I'm a almost-everything-pincher [I even dislike throwing cobble into lava, having TE cobble gens --')

LOL. One of the point of GT was to make UUM less OP. So I would answer:
1) If you're thinking to each generators in terms of UUM, then you're already lost ^^. Whats the point of mining once you can get everything very easily using UUM ? GT just makes UUM non-breaking the whole mining system of MC.
2) UUM is nerfed by GT, right. But, the point is, it also add tons of way to use EU to optimize your ressources, to exploits those in a better way: what are Aluminum, electrum, Lava Centrifuging, Silicon Plate, Industrial Grinders and such for you ? Way to get more stuff with energy. That's kind of the point of UUM, except in GT it's quite harder to get everything UUMable with GT machines, but it just makes the game enjoyable much longer.
3) I'm saying that, because I already ended 6 servers because of easy UM + greengens making the point of MC (mining) useless. Of course you can also build and do something else in MC, than mining. But if you really want to do that, then Creative is more appropriate to do so.
Until Greg, I or someone like that make one ... no ^^. Makes one by yourself lol. And, as it's quite easy to disable mods with FTB, you can even use FTB with that feature. Moreover, if you find Mindcrack was ok (which is, to me, clearly wrong because even Mindcrack contains tons of OP mods [CC, Forestry, SoulShard, Steve Carts, PORTAL GUN ...]) why don't you keep it ? I don't get it lol.
