you could be hitting liquids on the way down which block the miners progress, or you simply don't have enough mining pipe in your system. i say if you want something done right "grab a drill and find the diamonds in person"

to avoid rendering normal generators obsolete I propose the gen-pack be limited to fuel cans and superfuels as the only viable fuel sources. -

so if this goes no where despite 5 pages of +1's now you know whyas for how i feel about this here are my thoughts
1. railcraft and terrafirmacraft already have this functionality you should check them out before suggesting the devs reinvent the wheel
2. ic2 != terrafimacraft and that shouldn't change
3. refined iron/steel is ic2 most used and valuable resource so tweaking it like this would nerf anything that uses it (i don't like most nerfs)
4. alblaka doesn't like to add new ores that don't have many different uses and i can see why. caves would be rainbow colored with ores and vanilla blocks would become rare.
5. we already have steel/refined iron tools they are basically all the tools that run off electricity
6. we already have cement its called construction foam
7. minecraft (and video games in general) is not exactly what I would call "OCD friendly" -
Calm down, he asked for cables absorbing lightning strikes, that's not the same as Lightning rods :O
Of course I still have trouble understanding the rest of his post, nontheless...

and thank you for putting up the effort to research what your suggesting before posting it.in ic2 lingo this would be considered tier 4 technology(for example a mass fab is tier 3, an induction furnace is tier2, and a macerator is tier 1). most if not all tier 4 technology suggestions have been denied on the grounds of being over powered. can you give a good reson why this one should be treated differently?

Dude... Seriously, did you read the rules? If yes: You didn't understand them, or you ignored them flat-out. If no: Then you should go do that, and look at this from our eyes, because lightning rods are HIGHLY frowned upon.

technically this has been suggested before so...
TIME TO WHIP OUT THE LURKERS REPEAT SUGGESTION SCORING SYSTEMthought out: 30/100 few details in the post and no hard numbers but did a good job explaining what he is looking for in the video
presentation: 80/100 made a video to illustrate the idea
uniqueness: 50/100 on the grounds that there are not a lot of force field suggestions to compare it againsttotal score 160 a new record
i'm +1 for this
if you don't want to wait for some one to make this here are some existing tools that you may find useful
1. computercraft with the ccholo peripheral can project solid self-replacing blocks while consuming ic2 power
2. good old fashioned vanilla self repairing piston walls (but hooked up to a redpower reinforced stone factory)
3. mystcraft (every user gets their own dimension to hide their stuff in)
4. alblakas mod shop (pay alblaka to make this into an addon) -

Only 15 bookcases are needed now to get the highest-level enchantment -- is this related to how books apparently now cost leather?
I like this part because its really hard to make a good looking enchanting room when you have to make it a bookshelf walled 3x3 room to get the best effect

any determined troll will exploit the flaws of both systems the hope with the 2 week system is the true n00bs will lose the enthusiasm over their idea(if its a bad one) in that time and as they wait hopefully they will take the time to read the rules and past suggestions. but like fenixr said combining them and requiring both a probation (maybe shortened to a week) and a minimum number of posts would probably be the most effective.

Enchantments are very cheap now if you do the math right.
but are the enchantments as powerful? is an old level 50 enchanted sword better than a new level 30 sword?

I like the idea of Nuclear batterys per se. The issue is, why would you want to use your Uranium on a battery, if you can use it in a well-setup reactor, given, for balance reasons, the battery would need to be MUCH more inefficient then a simple reactor.
how about a single use battery recipe that uses uranium? it makes single use batteries less useless and appeases the users that refuse to build a reactor and as a result insist an alternative use for uranium be added.

wild guess but maybe some of the letters and numbers are total rubbish. try looking for a pattern like lining up every 5 letter or something like that
