Currently Water Mills produce at best 0.25EU per tick, then loose at least 10% of that on the first cable block. It is required to directly link water mills with a collector or transformer as otherwise too much EU is lost. This in general increases the cost of a single water mill by the Batboxes you have to add, and therefore beyond the cost of wind or solar generators, while producing a lot less EU and building a water works tower is way more complicated.
I think 1 EU / mill (unmanned) is the right amount. This would make them as efficient/material as wind mills (~2EU if placed correctly) but with a guaranteed output. The drawback is the difficulty in building a proper water mill tower, which is way more complicated than placing wind or solar generators, but then produces a more reliable output.
I think the material cost can stay the same, as you need a Batbox or MV-converter every 3-4 water mills if you build a tower of them to not loose too much EU on the cable.
Dude... use Tin cables. Problem solved...

I'd like to suggest that someone update the compendium thread and also add a clearly understandable last updated date to it!
I know that as a new member here I looked it over and didn't realize how old it is.
With all the "use the search" replies I see here you would think more effort would be made to keep it up to date!
Nope.

the (unintentional) troll, trolls again!
I love the geometric shape those quote-on-quotes make :p

Good idea.

Place the wire > Spray with the sprayer > Wait till it dries > Paint the wall with the Painter.

Must be one hell of a fear...
I partially agree with this. +1/2
Partialy?
EDIT: Don't think that's spelled right...

Wait until Industrial Conflict...
The difference between Industrial Conflict and this is that this adds a mode to an EXISTING item, and will probably (Correct me if I'm wrong) be easier to code than a huge add-on.
-
Isn't that what the low power mode is for?
Yes, but that does a measly 3.5 hearts of damage and has a short range. This is for killing people.
EDIT: Actually, it only does half a heart of damage

Have you ever shot a cow with your trusty Mining Laser, and missed? Worse, have you hit something important like that MFSU that has all your power in it? Have... I'll stop. I think that the existing Mining Laser would benefit greatly from getting a damage mode (Not quite sure about name) It would function identically to the Long-Range mode, same EU cost and same range, but if it hits a block, nothing happens. This would be good if you use the Mining Laser like a space gun (Like me). If people really want to, we could make it just have a reduced block penetration instead of removing it.

No point.

Sounds cool, but seems kinda not worth it. But it's a cool idea anyways.

What about if it protects you without penalty when you are no more than waist deep, but as a trade off you can't sprint. What if you wear it too long after you get out of the lava, steve's bottom half turns to an obsidian block. :-p Just throwing things or there now..
In my first post, I was talking about making the breakage timer run whether you stay in the lava or not. The moment you touch lava or fire with it on, the item begins entrophy. This represents stress on items as they cool, or age poorly. Was this why you wanted? Sounded like you wanted the timer to run only while you're in the lava but the timer lasts about the time it takes the average Steve to get out of the average pit of lava? Same end result for both ideas, single use.
That was my original plan, but that sounds cool/better.

I really like this idea. The rubber scares me though. My first thought was of the pictures in my friend's fire science textbook. Rubber and synthetics near skin don't do well with heat. Leather is better protection against fire and heat, because it's not a sticky hot mess.
I also like the limited uses. I kinda like the limit being one use though. You touh fire or lava or whatever and then the item breaks after x number of seconds. Preferably with the tool breaking sound so you know its happened. Of course anything is programmable, but since I don't program I don't know how feasible it is to add a triggered time delayed item decay like that. Would be very cool though.
it's supposed to give you a free "Mess up" when you fall in lava. A time limit would be helpful.

Actually I thought that he just forgot a word while typing it not that he mispelled somthing.

Just press Quote then Ctrl+C of it then go back to page press for second Quote Ctrl+V and then Ctrl+C for both, and so on, and you got X Quotes in one Reply.
Thanks.

At the bottom of your post there should be 2 buttons.
Edit and Quote
The fact that you posted a quote means you know where Im talking about and that this post may be silly
I knew that.

...theres a thing...called post edit!
Anyway nice lower teir solution for lava.
Explain post edit thing plox?
