Another key component would be which version of IC2 are you using?

IC2 1.106 for minecraft 1.3.2 requires Forge 4.1.1.x where x is the build number.

The version of forge that I've tested in a client with IC2 and will be using for 1.3.2 when a few other mods update is 4.1.1.257
    http://jenkins.minecraftforge.net/job/forge/257/
    http://files.minecraftforge.ne…e-universal-4.1.1.257.zip

If I am not mistaken, I MUST have downloaded an older version of forge (4.0.0) Before I listed 4.0.0.2 but meant 4.0.0.200 (Now i know that that last part was the build number.) Makes perfect sense now. Thank you everyone for all the help. If i don't post in this thread by later tonight, that means you are all geniuses and my problem is solved! THANKS!

Ok so I finally got forge server set up. The mods folder loaded when i first ran it and then
i placed IC2 jar inside mods (i assume not coremods). When I launch the server it gives me a unexpected
exception NoClassDefFoundError. It seems to be searching for an atd
class... Anyone know of a solution to this?

The server with forge loaded works just fine. Its when I add that jar to
the mods folder it spits that out and doesn't work.

I just need to figure out how to fix this damn error... Not adding more mods. All I'm trying to do is add IC2.

I've not tried any of the addons. Railcraft seems alright, I've played computercraft. I enjoy programming.

Ummm yeahh, I have one set up for personal use currently

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought the last post was different

Hahah it was... I did not think someone would post that quick and decided to add a post asking if it was even possible. Then when it posted I had already got your message. Thanks!

I am setting up my own server for IC2 and am wondering how to do it exactly. Do I need to start a bukkit server and then just drop the IC2 file in plugins folder? Or would I need to set it up with tekkit and disable all the other mods? I mainly only really want IC2. Help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hm Nevermind. Seems there's a bug that the batbox doesn't emit a redstone signal. Maybe its possible I can get around that issue by using an MFE at the top as well instead... does anyone know if that is bugged?

Now I notice there's a button for energy storage units that it will do certain things with redstone depending on how it is set. Let me explain what I'm trying to accomplish... because I think I can but I'm not sure...

From a previous thread, I have at the top of a mountain a windmill farm. This runs straight down to a batbox (40 blocks down), then another 40 or so to an MFS. The MFS is hooked up also to a geothermal generator. Currently, I have a splitter that allows me to shut off the geothermal generator. This way, it will drain from the batbox on top first, and then when I notice that batbox is out (the MFS is draining) I can flip on the geotherm.

Now if the batbox can output redstone signal when its full, 1/2 full, empty or whatever... I should be able to wire it so that when its empty, it turns on the geotherm so the batbox can fully recharge. Basically I want it to PREFER to use energy from the windmills rather than only drawing from them after the geotherm is exhausted.

I haven't found any sort of guide / help on wiring redstone with batboxes and such. I cannot get the batbox to ouput and redstone signal either way... I don't think I am doing it correctly... I am putting redstone next to the batbox. Any help or suggestions?

Tin cable also can go up to 50 blocks without losing any energy.
However, all of your solar panels are only outputting 1 Eu/tic packets.
So each one gets hit for energy loss once you hit the 50 block mark,
thus losing the sum and totality of your energy production.

I think that is what I was having trouble grasping. I knew I was going to lose 1 EU / tic. I think I was making the false assumption that all the power of each of those windmills made was being combined. It all makes sense now! Thank you SpwnX for the great ideas and schneeky for the clarification!

If you start using wind energy i suggest taking a look at my tutorial, and it has a very easy (but not cheap) way to solve transmission problem.

Basically : Wind mills (64, one tower) + tin cables to a Reverted MV transfomer -> Glass fiber cables to your MFSUs
Link to tutorial : [Tutorial] Efficiency, advanced lagfree Mechanics and logisticspipesfree recursive Autocrafting, with IC², Redpower and Tubestuff (including Windmillengineering by SpwnX)

Good to know. I was doing it in a cheaper, crapier way (straight into a batbox and using copper cables) and figured if I could just use glass fibre cables the problem would be solved. I just want to know WHY it either NEEDS a trasnformer (in your case) or WHY it just stops because it feels like it... because i don't think it should be losing ALL the power.

Hey. Pretty new it IC²</big>. Love it so far, but currently having a wiring issue. I made a small windfarm (4) at the top of a mountain and wired tin cable straight down about 100 blocks AT THE MOST. Not even half way down I will get nothing from the cable. (I have no current tester so I tested at various parts with a batbox to see if it would charge it.

I know with length the cable loses EU. And I've read that it can only travel a max of 255 or so. Is the cable losing THAT much where it is down to nothing by the time it makes it down not even 50 blocks let alone the full 100? The only way I think I can allieviate it, correct me if I'm wrong, is to make a energy storage unit where the current is stopping and then wiring better cable from that unit down the rest of the way, which would create more loss along this higher tier cable but I don't see any other way to solve it.

    Thanks for the help!
