Help Me install things!

  • Hi!

yea so I am kind of new to all this modded minecraft stuff, so i figured the easiest way to learn how to update and get everything in order would be to ask one of you gurus :P

    so here goes.

I downloaded and have been playing the "FTB - Unhinged" pack and it has been great, but a few things don't work (namely the distillation tower is broken) and there are plenty of updates for most of the mods included in that pack.

so how do i get the most up to date? and are there any compatability issues? i need to download MC 1.6.x?

I apologize, i know all the information is out there, but it just seemed a little overwhelming dealing with 64 mods in the unhinged pack (i don't use a number of them) and gregtechs really confusing million updates.

    thanks!

edit: i think these are the major ones

    buildcraft 3.7.2
    Gregtech 3.11
    IC2 1.116.374-lf
    MFR 2.6.4
    AE rv11e
    Factorization 0.8.01
    Forestry 2.2.8.4
    Railcraft 7.3.0.0

  • 1.5.2 being outdated is why i'm asking! unfortunately, due to just starting off the FTB pack it is where i have to progress from.

but do i just get 1.6.x and start installing mods and hope my world doesn't corrupt?

if so then i guess all the support i would need is which ic2 and gregtech to use as after some looking they seemed to be the most confusing as they had the most versions.

i think i read somewhere you have to put all your liquids in cells ...?

or is there a modpack to just use?

  • No modpack needed. Installing mods are easy. Get the installer for Forge and you're done with the hard part. (Pfft, all those days where we had to download 3 dependencies, do jarmodding for most mods are gone.)

Don't bother migrating worlds across major minecraft versions (i.e. from 1.X to 1.(X+1), so e.g. 1.5 to 1.6)), it's going to create some major problems.

  • That's IC²_lf, you should look closely before posting.

Experimental builds can be found by actually going up to the big banner up there, and clicking the jenkins link there.

    Or here.
