One thing that would be cool is like you compress cobblestone to make half blocks or smooth stone , or compressing smooth stone or something like that.

Redundant much? Use furnaces. And crafting. Perhaps a compressed stone block, which has higher explosive resistance (Not as much as reinf. stone, although it would be used to craft reinf. stone and/or the iridium stone mentioned in another thread)

I thought about something like this last night, after seeing a suggestion for marble blocks, I thought,'hey, why not make the compressor compress smoothstone into marble?' make marble a damage value of smoothstone and wala! no new block IDs, all you would need is a new sprite (recolor of metal blocks?)

That would require a modification of a base class (Hence why Industrial Diamonds are not a Meta-data'd Diamond).

Well its just an idea to make it easier just like how you can make glowstone out of redstone and gold dust and iron out of copper and tin.
