suggestion: lightning rod

Hello all. What do you guys think of a lightning rod as a source of power? My idea is that whenever there is a thunderstorm in the chunk that the rod is in, the lightning would be redirected to the rod, providing a decent jolt of extreme voltage (not sure how much exactly, but its lightning, so I would think enough to give an msf unit a decent charge). Suggestions for the recipe are welcome, I'm a bit of a minecraft noob so I don't know where to even begin with a balanced recipe. The pros for such a design would be a more or less set up and forget power source that provides substantial energy and more reason to make use of hv transformers in smaller bases, the cons being that it is a sporadic source of power and would require a system capable of converting and storing the extreme voltage safely. Now if only there was a weather machine to increase the likelyhood of a storm...
