what bot are you talking about?

It's a one time thing. You create an account and never need to register again..
so i don't see any problems with that at all. -
Why not anymore?Checking for blocks above them and not using the light map
-
Check. Why the hell would I iterate to sky for something what has a Sunlight-Map in the World.
Solars did that a while ago..
-
You can check if a Block at XYZ has Sunlight or not. Not only the TileEntity, with the Sun shining on it.
Is it still using the old "is there any block above me?" check or is it using the sky-light (?) level?

You for example mentioned a good point, that bying a GITHub space costs 100$ a year, so who is going to pay that? Are there free/cheaper alternatives?
Public repos on github are free, private ones do cost something, i believe you get/got 5 private repos for 5$ a month (i have 2 unused private repos left, so no problem with using those, in case i'm trustworthy )
The 100$ is for companies (i don't even know the befit of having a company account) -
Also a decent (public) bug tracker would be nice.
Shouldn't take too long to set one up..
I've so far only really worked with mantis, are there any other good/better bts out there i should know about?
*looks at alb* (tell me and i'll do that)

First off you have to keep in mind that IC - even IC² - is relatively old compared to newer (i am so funny!) mods that were created in the past months (or half year whatever).
IC² already had that done for quite some time and at that time it was quite the awesome mod, because you couldn't do as much as easily as you are able to now.
Believe me: reworking code is one of the most boring things you can do. (for the most part)
IC is still mostly how/what it was back then. It is nothing new exciting like redpower with all the high tec machines and awesome redstone stuff. Not to mention the sub-blocks that are freely combinable.
So IC isn't the most modern mod out there
In addition to that it's been getting quiet around here.
I don't know the devs opinion on this, but in my opinion an active community is a very important motivation-booster.
I mean back in IC1 days everyone would have spammed a thread with "leaked blueprints" for a new reactor system (bad example here ).
And don't get me wrong: we don't have a bad community here, but it's getting quieter and (i assume) most people are only here to look for stuff and then go away again.Quote
271 users are browsing the forums
20 members and 251 guests
So much for my opinion on how things developed over time, now: facts!
Pageviews have been decreasing too, we once had 300-350k on one day, now it's always around 100-150k (on weekends ~200k)
The bounce rate has been going up, too (user leaves website after one visit)Dont hate me for this, but modpacks proably are the biggest reason for this: why would you need to visit ic.net?
They have their own (mostly copied) wikis, that include hidden recipies, and a larger community in their forums.
Besides that: easy install.
Well. i dont understand whats hard about droping forge into the mc.jar, deleting meta-inf and dropping the ic.jar into the mods folder~16:40
Money isn't the problem at all (as far as i know)
Well. at least it shouldn't be, cause there are no costs at all (for the devs).
I am paying the server ic.net is hosted on and the domain.
Player is running some stuff on his server, but i've not heard anyone complain yet.
And if they wanted money the easiest thing would be just to put up some ads on the blog/wiki/forum and there you go.

PS: yes, missing so much stuff i wanted to say, but i do not have the patience to write more. -_-Edit: one thing:
I complained about ghosts in the beta release thread a few times and was kinda ignored after a while, because apparently nobody else could reproduce those.
Even after asking again, nobody cared
Not blaming anyone, just saying.
I may be stupid sometimes, but if i can't fix it even after trying multiple times, a lot of the other users may get the same issue too. -
I had that Lag too. It was only for 5 Minutes and i got it 3 times (on 3 diffrent Days), and then the Site was running as normal. But that was a few Days before imer installed boinc.
Around 6am GMT+1 by chance?
Thats the time it does backups.. the server is usually way overloaded while doing thatAs you can see there is a minor spike on 6am

I'm so tempted to set up an IC1 server and load up the IR map
..i'll have to look into that later (this evening or so) -
Did you notice any slow loading times or other bad things since yesterday?
I'm currently trying out running boinc (what is boinc? ) on this server (and a few other ones)
As a sideeffect the server is always maxed out (performance wise), but it theoretically shouldn't be noticeable due to the boinc processes having a low priority
Basically i'm spending unused cpu cycles on caclulating stuff, currently i'm calculating some protein sequences.
Obviously it's not an option if the server performance gets influenced too much and performance gets bad, so let me know if you noticed anything- iMer

Ditto. I remember being paranoid about installing that patch to make pickaxes work decently on the IC ores... Good times... -sigh-
sadly, those are the only screenshots i can find -
Range is fixed to 15 blocks from the source by the current lightning engine. And no the dev team will not rewrite the engine.
Let's see what the new light engine changes bring us, maybe there's something you can do with that (hack-ish ways)
I highly doubt they will (ever) change that, why would they even want to -

It's (probably) forge related
I get that when i get disconnected (connection dies a lot here, shitty hotspot :<) and i release a key i was pressing.

Because its sole use its for enchanting (Also the fact that you lose some/all of it when you enchant) what i say that i should be called something like Life Essence or Mana or Coin their own term for that instead of exp.
I guess if they changed it after the snapshots everyone would be so used to saying xp or exp that it just would get stuck...
Is there even an official naming? (in the game?) -
jk jk... mining XP will be the real OP problem with Lappacks and Diamond drills... You'd be surprised how quick to 30 you'll get (I'm guessing, btw) via just mining blocks left and right...
Yeah, been playing vanilla for a bit
The xp change is quite niceBtw: are enchanted picks still faster than ddrills?
-
I had to offload the output-only slots due to the XP calculation hardcodedly looking up the furnace recipe table. I might make electric furnaces give XP as proper, but I don't know...
Dont make it abusable (Smelting dust, macerating ingot, smelting dust, macerating ingot and so on)

Same problem here. the latest version doesn't play any machine sounds, except the sound when you stop a machine or it runs out of power.
Just guessing here:
It seems like sounds are server-sided now (soundlag and all that - pretty annoying if you ask me)
But i have actually no idea what is really happening -
Buildcraft and railcraft are updated for 1.32 btw. So its just redpower and IC2 now. I guess you dont wanna be the last mod to update? xd
We won't - there are plenty of mods out there ;D

Btw, I've recently wrote up a full explanation of the Reactor system here:
[NEW] Reactor SystemIts not hayo-ish though, so there is no point in ever publishing it
