This is all a bunch of bullshit honestly. Most mod developers are very reasonable in their requests. It's lazy modpack developers that choose not to follow them. The arms race I'm seeing starting is going to destroy the modding community. Both sides need to figure this shit out.

yes. All you are doing is "re-downloading" the files, and you still have to login in order to play Minecraft.
Basically, "Hey, let's move this chair to the locked bedroom that only I can access!"
-
It wasn't, but I will say this about adfly its the worst thing to happen to the minecraft community and any mods or modpack that uses it needs to get slaped with DMCA from mojang.
Wrong.
Quote from their Terms of Service:QuoteWhat You Can Do
If you've bought the game, you may play around with it and modify it. We'd appreciate it if you didn't use this for griefing, though, and remember not to distribute the changed versions of our software. Basically, mods (or plugins, or tools) are cool (you can distribute those), hacked versions of the Minecraft client or server are not (you can't distribute those).
Any tools you write for the game from scratch belongs to you. Other than commercial use (unless specifically authorized by us in our brand and assets usage guidelines - for instance you are allowed to put ads on your YouTube videos containing Minecraft footage), you're free to do whatever you want with screenshots and videos of the game, but don't just rip art resources and pass them around, that's no fun. Plugins for the game also belong to you and you can do whatever you want with them, as long as you don't sell them for money. We reserve the final say regarding what constitutes a tool/plugin and what doesn't.

99.999999999% sure it isn't IC2's fault.
NOWHERE in that crash report does it say that IC2 errored. -
Optifine merely makes you have better FPS and nicer effects.
To fix the IDs, copy the Server IC2 IDs into your %appdata%\.minecraft\config\ic2.cfg file.
It's usually suggested to use the latest forge, unless otherwise specified.
-
IC2 is universal-both Client and Server since 1.3.
-
Are you using 1.115, or 1.111?
-
First error: Get the IDs from the server, and then copy them into your %appdata%\.minecraft\config\ic2.cfg file using any text editor (Notepad, Wordpad, Notepad++, etc.).
Second error: Install BuildCraft 3.3.0 inside %appdata%\.minecraft\mods -
*sigh* Looks like it's happening again.
If you don't follow a license, it's illegal.
If you follow the license, it's legal. All IC2 is asking for you to do is say, "We have IC2 in our modpack, it was made by the IC2 Dev Team, their website is at industrial-craft.net or forum.industrial-craft.net." and not to use a revenue-generating service. If you put it into your modpack without following those simple steps, then it's illegal.

I have a forge 6.5.0.489 and when I try to start a server I get all sorts of terrain generation problems. This is a clean 1.4.6 server jar (+forge) with only industrialcraft-2_1.112.170-lf.jar in the mods folder. Would love to run 1.4.7, but most of the mods I play with are only up to 1.4.6. Any help would be appreciated.
1.4.7 and 1.4.6 are compatible with each other. Try updating Forge (http://files.minecraftforge.net) and use 1.115 Beta. -
Ok, now that's weird. Forge's saying that it loaded IC2. Try a newer Forge like .518.
Also, is that the full Forge log? (Mine usually has all this ServerStartingEvent and stuff) -
Well, I'm doing it the old-fashioned way using only vanilla Minecraft.
1) Download Forge universal from http://files.minecraftforge.net.
2) Extract it.
3) Go to %appdata%\.minecraft\bin and open up minecraft.jar with something like 7-Zip or WinRar by right-clicking on it and doing stuff.
4) Delete META-INF folder.
5) Drag Forge files into minecraft.jar. Leave the newly created META-INF folder.
6) Close everything, run Minecraft to test.
7) Download IC2, and put it into %appdata%\.minecraft\mods
Close everything, run Minecraft to test. -
Use latest snapshot (.209+): http://ic2api.player.to:8080/job/IC2_lf/
Next time, please search Bugtracker and Support forums before posting. -
Go to: %appdata%\.minecraft\config
Open up IC2.config AND pamsmods.config (or similar). Use Notepad/Wordpad/Notepad++/etc. to open it.
Edit the Block ID values so that they don't conflict.
Save, close, start Minecraft.
If it doesn't work, try again. -
Under-ground house. You have almost unlimited building room, and the cobblestone you get can be used for the Recycler, etc.
You also get the benefit of not having to worry about mobsI generally start with a 11x11x3, then build my "second" floor a bit taller/deeper.
-
In addition, are you new to modding? (Being that Forge is creating all the folders, configs, and downloading their .jars)
The IC2.jar must be in the mods folder. (Not the API! Don't download it!) -
You noticed that but not ...
... So, you're a SPY!
But...that was "uebersaw", not "ubersaw" XD I main Engineer, but I do play Spy and Medic a lot.Getting closer to achieving an anvil (I think, don't even know how to craft it yet :P). Haven't been playing SSP for a longgg time.

Is this on a server, or your own Singleplayer world?
