Hybrids are still better than regular reactors if I read the changes right (hard to say, as Greg hasn't said how the multipulse system effects thorium, aside form it being half the duration), but the power output is down and the fuel needed is way up.

double pulsing plutonium should be fine for high output, it'll be shit for low output, because you can't possibly keep it hot during an off period with less than 34 heating cells.
-
My earlier designs were 8 plutonium quad cells actually, but the thought of building 5 full sized reactors (for the thorium) and however many dozens of cooling towers suggested i should clamp down on it and build it minimum size.
As for empty space, shouldn't be an issue. You have to have automation that can put stuff in specific slots (which gregtech provides) regardless of the amount of empty slots, or you'll be boned the first time there's an empty isotope and cooling slot at the same time.
-
I fixed something for you. My Open Beta has that already fixed. Use Plutonium instead! It pulses twice per Reactortick!
I'm still not sure if I should be pissed all our designs in the last few weeks are going to be ruined or thrilled we get to do it again.

Until Greg, I or someone like that make one ... no ^^. Makes one by yourself lol. And, as it's quite easy to disable mods with FTB, you can even use FTB with that feature. Moreover, if you find Mindcrack was ok (which is, to me, clearly wrong because even Mindcrack contains tons of OP mods
[CC, Forestry, SoulShard, Steve Carts, PORTAL GUN ...]) why don't you keep it ? I don't get it lol.
Essentially what I want from a modpack is to be able to talk to other people who use the modpack. With everybody moving off Mindcrack (which was marginally balanced) over to Ultimate (which doesn't appear to have any thought other that 'shove everything we can in' behind it). Talking to people on FTB communication channels has gone from difficult to impossible.
-
FTB packs seem to be put together by deranged monkeys. Mindcrack was OK, but even then the default settings are fucked up. Ultimate includes power converters of all things. Anybody know of a modpack/launcher that's both put together by people who respect the idea of game balance and don't feel the need to rip off mods they could have gotten permission for with 5 minutes work?

Bricked Keyboard did the cooling for that already:

Ok, i think i unlocked gregtech based CRCS systems. Rather than try for hybrid balance, split up the plutonium and thorium.
You'll want to use this for the plutonium (can be expanded of course).

With two of these for the thorium:

While the cost to set all that up would be insane, the combined efficiency comes to a whopping 24.
Incidentally, how many cooling towers would you need for all this?

I suggest learning, or you won't be able to use a breeder (except the vanilla one, if you really want to learn to use vanilla redstone timers) at all, it'll pop the first re-enriched cell and then not make any more.
-
Oh wait, that's a uranium cell in slot 0
That's a lot more efficient. 14.2.
Second problem though: converting it to Mark I drops its isotope output by 40%, its now got only 15 extra isotope per cycle. This would be good, if something of a nightmare to automate, as a single reactor if 367 isn't enough.

The thread here is centered around vanilla IC2 reactors only. The thorium cells come from a
infamous or awesome addon named GregTech. That rule changed when I took over. Hell, there's 5 gregtech reactors on the official list right now, I'll be adding more.
As for the hybreeder... hrm.
Well, to start with you can make it a mark I with very little change: http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…uftn6xmjdk0jufhu7gco9sm4g
It's also not as efficienct as the hybreeders we have already, it gets more power, which would be a good tradeoff, but the whole point of high output breeders is to run more reactors, and the extra power comes at the cost of reduced ability to do that.
-
Hmm. These aren't bad, I particularly like the premium.
I'm not sure about including mark Vs though, they're... twitchy.
-
I'm concerned about overselling the imbalanced reactors. Any other method shows them having great efficiency, which, if you combine them with other reactors they really do, but on their own they have lower efficiency because of wasted isotopes.
-
Running cost is what you need *other than uranium* each cycle to run the reactor.
UUM costs are there in order to give comparison between different costs, or so you know what it will cost to automate the creation of the parts.
-
That works.
Hell, its not even unbalanced really, I can already silk touch an arcane bore, its just that doing anything with an arcane bore means enchanting 500 books in order to get the configuration I want.
-
Each point of efficiency should be 1 million EU per uranium cell.
To get this, I took EU per thorium cycle/(plutonium * 12.5).
The 12.5 comes from the number of plutonium cell replacements per thorium cycle (2.5) times 5 (the amount of uranium used up centrifuging re-enriched uranium).
The 'should be' part is because this isn't accurate with the thorium negative reactor, which needs extra thorium from somewhere (it works combined with a thorium positive reactor, but not running it on its own). The correct efficiency there when I put these up officially (today, hopefully) is 14 + 1 extra plutonium (which is calculated off the uranium needed to make all the thorium, since the plutonium is excess).

Kinda messes up the fun of building ore processing.
Though, I'm not sure I'd even use it, given the lack of byproducts.
-
Oh, you mean a specific item called a filter?
Dammit, that's a redpower item.
Router's will apparently do it though, but I'm moving on to the hybreeder, Peppe's latest will get me enough output for 2058 EU/t.

Easier to adjust the output speed of than the double too, just change the cell count.
