Thats why i used 2 wires in this design. Chances are very low it will burn those 2 wires before burning the tripwires. It will not guarantee a shutdown but it will come pretty close to it.

With 0,2 timer they dont jam but dont work any faster either through if you use 0,3 sec it will jam. Also there is a slight chance your cooling system will bug out when you login. Happened to me my reactor was running for over 5 hours nonstop when i logged back on it suddenly exploded with no reason. Didnt change anything it just exploded while i checked it a hour ago and it was full with water buckets no sign that the cooling system couldnt handle it. Iam guessing the way minecraft works can sometimes bug out this system.

I tried to make this one with vanilla redstone only and kept it simple so i just lay a wire between A and B while A sends stuff to B, when B stops recieving stuff (which happens when 1 of the lines are gone) it will send stuff to the reactor thus shutting down the reactor. This system is basically 4x that. Those repeaters have a really low delay btw like 0,2 sec or something in total.
With redpower i wouldnt need to use repeaters because a redstone signal will go up to 255 blocks away on a red alloy wire instead of only 15 so ye it would be even faster but same principle.

I cant see how your system works with 1 close up..

If you only use IC2 you cannot make such a reactor. Also it can blow up. The cooling system can be bugged if you log in sometimes and i dunno why (which is exactly why i put a pressureplate there to shut it down fast).

Yes it turns a block with a redstone wire on it in lava thus it breaks the circuit and reactor gets shutdown almost instantly (With only the delay of the repeaters which is really short). Tested it a couple of times couldnt get it to explode unless i put a unrealistic amount of uranium in it. I think it should even stop our CASUC reactors through doing the wiring is alot harder there because of all the other stuff in it.

A lava lake in the normal world can have a few hundreds of lava in it no need to go to the nether XD.

I made a system that shutdown your reactor when a redstone wire is broken. I havent seen it fail with 'normal reactors' it should stop any reactor except full uranium ones because it reacts pretty fast (few seconds is enough). You could make it even faster by making it out of wood or wool but too lazy to make another one atm :). Only IC2 is needed to make this. Screenshots:

Because its easy to get and 100% imunity against a nuke would be lame.
-
Reactor platings should be changed only nub designs use them and very very rarely someone else uses them. Its a bit useless reactor component.

When i figure out how to make this thing almost failsafe i will for now you just gotta read this topic and look at the screenshots :). Iam afraid i will have to use buildcraft pipes (for a detector pipe) to detect the buckets but i dont want to use buildcraft too much because its so bugged atm. If anyone knows a way to detect the buckets in the pipes with using only redpower 2 and IC2 i will be happy. Maybe next update of repower will include sensors.

Redpower 2 is making a computer inside minecraft so i think it would be nice it there was some addon that would allow IC2 stuff to work together with the redpower stuff.

If you want to waste your uranium on a 1 eff reactor its a excellent design other than that its a total piece of crap.
-
They wont work on 0.2 if they would work i would have used that :). 0.4 is the fastest you can use without jamming them.
-
My whole system is running on a 0,4 timer so thats 2.5 buckets per seconds (or 1250 cooling per tick). I also made 2 transposers that catch the buckets that dont fit in the reactor . Runs without much problems atm iam just making it saver incase something happens.

Rick, why do you think the tripwires would be destroyed when the reactor starts to overheat? As far as I know, only specific blocks gets destroyed when a reactor is near exploding.
That based on luck i just increased the chance it will shutdown itself by having more 'protected' blocks. Its nowhere near failsafe yet but better than nothing. And it will shutdown if you turn the cooling off which i think is a pretty neat feature.
Next thing i want to do is to check if the cooling system is actualy pumping the buckets in the reactor and if the empty buckets are coming out but i got no idea yet how i will do this. If it works correctly only way to overheat the reactor is to put too much uranium in it but i need to find a way to detect the buckets in the pneumatic pipes.
My deployer has 2x3 water in front of it. Its connected to a 0.4 timer (any faster and they wont do anything) so 2.5 buckets per second from just 1 deployer.
In order to make it faster i would have to remove a chamber so i can ad another filter to get the empty buckets out but that would mean it also explodes faster and you get only 50 extra eu out of it. Through when a update makes it possible to use the chambers instead of the reactor itself i will make a system that produces like 1k eu/tick.

Dont have to try it i can see it will explode pretty fast by just looking at it
-
I made one with 2.8 eff and low heat gain
http://test.vendaria.net/index…UPPUIIIXPUIPPCPUIPCCPUIPCIf you like explosions go make that one

Integrated this safety system and also another system i made myself using tripwires (you dont need redpower to use tripwires it just makes it more compact).
-
Ok well that was pretty simple. I now got 2 tripwires running in my reactor. When they are broken or the pulses stop for whatever reason the reactor will be shutdown. Delay varies a bit but its less than 1 sec so thats pretty damn fast. Another advantage of integrating it with the cooling system is that if the redstone part of the cooling system stops it will shutdown the reactor so you can actualy stop the timer without the reactor blowing up now.
The safety kill switch pressureplate:
