Sorry for resurrecting it, but I'm trying to make it now and... What happens when cycle ends? Reactor is filled with buckets? And you have to put them back to deployers manually?
Also, if i'm ok with 1.5k eu/t, can i skip making top deployers/filters, and use only 18 buckets in reactor (and 8 in filters, 4 full/4empty)?
I have a prototype, and it seems to works as advertised. Did not make a thorough comparison yet, though.
It's hard to find a server with IC, that has NO RP. So, it is a standard situation.
And even without smelting wagons and helmets, scrapbox output is pretty high.
I think just a piston by itself will do, because it is 2 blocks when extended, and one if not. But water is, probably, better.
I did some calculations, even if we count just metal output, then it is about 25% chance to get some kind of metal from a scrap box, if using alloy furnace to smelt wagons and helmets.
EU price to make a metal ingot is about 10k with scrap box, and over 40k with mass fab. And as a "bonus" there are leather, diamonds, rubber, redstone, pumpkins, etc,etc,etc.
Of cause, this is a very raw approximate, but even with over-overclocked recyclers scrapboxing seems to be better for, say, mass producing windmills, than mass fab.

We can group windmills, so a group outputs over 500 eu/t if there is a dangerous wind. Then we pass it through MFSU. If MFSU is full (for more than few seconds), then windshield is raised.
Of cause, with some splitology this can be made working with more than 500 eu/t, and/or with just a batbox instead of mfsu.
Ever heard of Breeders? It'll go a long way to stretching out your uranium supply. Besides, once you get your full Quantum, what is there to do that requires that much power?
Breeders != infinite uranium. Even with them you can't get more than 70 mil of eu from ore.
And as for what to do with power - it can be used to create nearly anything with uu and crapboxes. There is not much use for them in vanilla Ic (because IC fails at providing energy sink), but if you have other ways to spend ersources, like auto-building epic mechanisms, buildings and mechanical buildings...
Has anyone tried it - control windmill effective height dynamically, by adding or removing blocks depending on electric output. Frames, pistons, deployers, may be even just a flowing water will do. Theoretically, tthis can allow to make engines work always at around, say, 4.5 eu/t, regardless of weather.
Btw, you can easily "cut" high tree by firing vertically along the trunk. Then douse fires.
And I don't think burning scaffolds is exploit. It is known that differently arranged wood fire differently. May be scaffolds is exactly form that is burning very effectively 
There reactors with a higher effective output than 86 eu/tick. Probably because you forgot the fact that when you put components around uranium cells the uranium cell will produce less heat.

You still need at least 4 cooling pr 10 eu/t, so top limit is around 200.
May be, it is possible to use one source block of lava in pillar to generate four cobble on all sides? Gotta try.
Also, if you gonna use it for scrap, you can cut them to slabs with autocrafting table, doubling your junk output.
Yes, ostrich is from Mo'creatures, which is lame (except horses), but my smp server use them, and i test on same setup as server.
And as for teleport tubes - imagine what it does in smp. It is as bad as you'd expect. BC is evil.
It is not hard to calculate energy output limit. Each eu/t needs extra one cooling. So, for non-casuc, theoretical limit is around 54(inner) + 12(chambers) +20(water blocks)=86 eu/t
CASUCS are more limited with uranium output/ which can't be more than 44 per cell on average. Alternately, one cell can produce up to 300 cooling, compensating for 6.8 uranium cells. So, if we have one ice per 6.8 cells that is 54*6.8/7.8*44.4 which is roughly 2090.
guys, if u don't care about run time, then just fill a neactor with only uran cells, and tada! Max eu/t! ( if it even lasts a tick..
It lasts for 7 seconds, so you really can run such thing in microcycle mode. Effective EU/t, though, will be low, because of long cool down times.
More complex rules = more ways to bend them to one's benefit.
8 uu is too cheap. May be, make it a from from scrap box with some very low chance?
Vertical setup of cobblegen on first pic is not working:( What is recommended design? I have tried several, but they all generate huge amount of smoke particles, so it is unplayable without smoke animations disabled.
I want to have a global electric system in my base, but I want to some systems (such of massfabs) use it only when there is enough of it, so they will not leave critical systems (ice factory for breeder) dry.
What is the best way to do it?
Nuclear is early midgame. In vanilla IC2 endgame you will run out of uranium, because your mining speed is limited. Windmills are endgame.
Ice and glass use eu. One block of ice is 800eu. If you make scrap from ice, each scrap costs you nearly 20 as much.
Glass is one macerating and one smelting, for 1008 eu total. But it gives you 8 pieces of junk, so it is about 130 per raw.
So far slabs seems to be best options.
Other way to reduce lag is, probably, make transportation more effective. For example, feed junk directly to (overclocked) recyclers, so you can only transport stacks of scrap.
