Alright. Scrap the 3x3 and change up the materials, and the EU cost.

Something like this then? With the meaning the Lapotron?

I liked the overdrive mode till yuo said the 3x3. I think an overdrive mode where it charges to a point, then drills extremely fast(insane). It would, of course, waste some energy in the charging process for /balance/ reasons.
Hmm... Point. What about the resulting force of the drill instead drills three blocks forwards? And yes, perhaps 1 EU wasted per 10 charged, and same rate stands for moving the energy back to the normal reservoir?
It should, because MLMP should load the mods in the minecraft(_server).jar, then move to external ones. And IC2 works just fine outside it's .jar. You _could_ extract the files, throw them in a .zip, and name it something crazy, and it'd still work just fine.
MLMP loads mods for the server just fine on a Windows-based server, due to loading alphabetically(goes .jar first, then external mods), but on a Linux server I think it loads via changes dates which can really screw things up (external mods then jar, as well)
Alright, I have looked around extensively for this and couldn't find anything, so here I go.
By combining a regular Drill with 3 Iridium Plates, on top of an advanced circuit, you obtain a drill with 2x EU capacity (requires 20 SU-Batteries to recharge) and a special ability.
(Don't mind the Rubber, used it as a placeholder.)
But what's this special ability that I was talking about? Well, due to the properties of Iridium and the Adv. Circuit, the Drill has the ability to enter "Overdrive Mode," similar in execution to EqEx's tools (f.e Destruction Catalyst), by clicking this key [configurable] the Drill will begin to charge it's internal capacitors with EU that it will take from the Drill's rechargeable storage to the point of about 90 EU. As well, this internal storage can be transferred back to the regular storage by the same key, but with the loss of 1 EU per 10 EU transferred back.
This "Overdrive Mode" entails the ability to drill a 3x3 area in one go for 9 EU stored away in it's internal "battery" (time vs. convenience). So in this way, you can drill 10 3x3 squares before the capacitors run dry again and need to be recharged.
Opinions/critiques are welcome.
(P.S If I had the time to, I would turn this into an addon myself, but I figured I might as well leave this here for a more experienced modder.)
I think Forge was in its early days when they started. If an API was available back then, I can't imagine why they wouldn't have used it (just to save them from all the pain!)
Agreed. I suppose the 1.7.3 Aether was a "proof-of-concept" and they were testing to see how well it would work, then move to Forge. But even so, that doesn't explain why they didn't use it from the get-go if there was an API available.
I just spoke to Kingbdogs on IRC, they're using Forge in the next release.
o__o I think they've finally taken the hint...
YES!!! Welcome back Zip!
They're supposed to be doing a Dec 24 release, although they didn't specify which year...
I'll laugh if it's 2012.
Sorry but could you please explain to me what is illegal about technic pack? The pack only makes it easier to install all those mods without a bunch of troubleshooting, the guy gives credit to all the mod owners of the mods in the pack. The pack does not edit any class files in any of the mods. Notice the IC2 creators could have easily done what you did yet they chose not to.
So please explain to me why exactly it is illegal; Do not use shallow arguments, explain in great detail exactly why, backing up all of your arguments.
AFAIK, at the Technic's inception, they didn't ask for the modder's permission (or the modder in question refused, and they still did anyways) to include the mod in question in the pack, while yes, they do credit the creators, they did make the wrong move about essentially "stealing" the mod.
Unfortunately, I can't easily back this up as I am working off of what I have heard about this whole thing from other users on the forums.
Just threw cpw's fix at my install, everything seems to be working just fine. Just got to test redstoning now.
Incoming this week, barring unforeseen catastrophe. Holiday season's got me running everywhere, you all know how it is.
But I'll make sure we have charging benches for Christmas!
Thanks Drashian. IC2 is nearly empty without these benches alongside a few others.
Merry Christmas!!!
I have seen it!
And I think I saw Direwolf20 adding this addon to his new lets play. If I know him right I think he will setup a factory that uses this addon!
Knowing DireWolf, he will. And I'm pretty sure he already has added it to his videos now.
I heard from zipp on email. I'll talk to him about where we want to go.
Thanks cpw. We all owe you for this.
Here's hoping for a stable release soon. Keep up the great work!
I can see that, truly - but the stuff spawns more frequently than intended, so chances are you'll find a lot more of it around.
It does. After about 30 minutes of mining, I had well over 55 Nikolite Dusts.
This idea's been refused on multiple occasions. Please check the Suggestions Compendium before posting.
Try installing Forge again. "ISidedInventory" is from Forge.
Odd. Forge 1.2.2 works fine with me and IC2 1.0, alongside BC, RP2, Turrets, etc.
Admittedly there are the broken chunks, but a quick reload of the world fixes that.
Not a bug, a MC feature. It's called fish eye, maybe you should take a bath and find out it's effects. (Not implying you stink but the pun was intended)
Oh, okay. I hadn't realized that and this was the first time I noticed this so I got confused.
Please delete this thread.
What he's trying to say is your screen shots are too big, and the forum dosen't automatically scroll, so you'll have to scale em down for us to see what you're talking about, lol.
Odd. They scale automatically for me. Then again, that might be Chrome. I'll edit.
Edit: Done.
It certainly won't - since Aether eats up a lot of block IDs it assumes it can be incompatible with everything.
And essentially becoming like (though Aether came before (I think)) BTW.
