...every time I find HeadHunter in a flame war it is suprisingly interesting to read. And I find myself on his side more often.

Thank you, but I will say that this is not a "flame war". I have my opinions, I try to support them rationally, and I find that some people adhere as ardently to a dissenting opinion.
The problem comes when people cannot realize that one of the things I do is force people to challenge their own conceptions and beliefs. If one's opinion can hold up to my scrutiny, even if I don't agree with it, I can accept it as valid.
If one's response to that scrutiny is to turn away from the issue and attack me personally, well then the gloves come off.

I've had some strong and spirited discussions with people who've turned into friends when we find that our common ground is broader than the areas in which we disagree.

In the words of Jack Handey: "A man doesn't automatically get my respect. He has to get down in the dirt and beg for it." :p

I didn't need an exact reading - keep in mind that the time between the origination of this thread and the fix was a matter of mere hours. I took an informal reading when I first heard of the "nerf" and what I saw was sufficient to indicate that my power output was not what I'd previously come to expect. After the "b" fix, I did the same thing again and noticed it was basically along the lines of what I had in 1.23.
If I wanted to quantify exactly how much the change was, I'd have done more thorough testing in the manner you describe - but the issue wasn't really "how much" as "did they change the output?" And by the next day, it had been changed back.

This is a thread that's carried on long after the obsolescence of the update that spawned it, and it's serving no purpose now except to reiterate what's already been said and gnaw at the parched bones of details that are no longer relevant.

Wow! Having seen the posts of late, and now the videos, I am VERY impressed! When I saw the initial post I thought this would be an overly ambitious pipe dream that would never actually see the light of day, but you've got a working prototype! The videos are amazing! How pleased I am to be proven wrong. I am very much looking forward to seeing what can be done with this - it looks like you've taken the best elements of BC's builder and filler and merged them with something like Eloraam's frames. You'll be giving the big dogs a run for their money with this - I cannot wait to try it and I look forward to seeing more about it.

I fell into the shaft of an oil well on my 1.0 world yesterday and could not get out. I nearly drowned before I made it into an abandoned mineshaft that intersected the deposit.
All the while as I struggled to survive, I couldn't help but miss my QHelm.

Seriously, though... do you think that his lone wolf survival exempts him from responsibility?

    Responsibility to whom?
The world is vast - infinitely so - and Steve is very, very small. No matter how much he soils his tiny corner of it, the world will carry on as if he doesn't even exist.
And ecologically speaking, no amount of harm by one man could overcome Nature's repair mechanisms. The oceans will still do their cleaning, the winds will blow, the rain will fall and everything green will breathe.
It takes a lot more than one man to pollute on any noticeable scale.

One thing is for certain... the number of people who build a Quantum Chest will already dramatically decrease. It's always been my last piece, and I notice from Direwolf20's videos that I am not the onyl one who likes the QBoots/QLegs/QHelm/Batpack (or now Lappack) combo.

So users now have to weigh the constant benefits of a Quantum Helm and Boots that can basically be made for the same iridium cost as the Chest, which they may only wear some of the time.

However if you run this into a mfe or mv converter and have it output 512 ticks you can read 500 from the mfe or mv convert, but that won't be per tick. It will take multiple ticks to reach the 500 eu before the mfe or mv converter sends the tick out. So saying 16 windmils makes even "up to 500 eu/tick" isn't accurate. .

Once more... I said the reading is up to 500 EU/t. I'm well aware that this is not the actual power generated each tick - and despite what anyone says, you won't get a consistent reading on that anywhere with wind power, due to its fluctuating nature.

I wasn't concerned with the individual or collective actual output per tick - just with the best reading I could get. It was an informal benchmark that supported the implications in the patch notes.

Trying to make me look like the wrong one eh?

You're not even content with getting to be right, are you? You gotta flog this dead horse until you're satisfied.
I have some news for you, guess you missed it from my previous references: A change was made in 1.337 (per the update notes), and reversed in 1.337b (per the update notes). I don't know how much more "official" you can get.
Asking for raw numbers is meaningless as the change was reversed.
My observation was not made for your benefit - so if you're not satisfied with my method or my result, do it yourself. But for Frak's sake, stop harping on it already. You're starting to sound like a broken record. It's obvious that you're the only one who cares about your interpretation of what I meant by my original post.

In the words of one of my favorite philosophers: "If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence."

Ultimately, I'm not sure how much it matters, except in /SMP.
Basically, Steve is the Last Man On Earth. He's accountable to no one and does what he must to survive and succeed.
If that means clearcutting, strip-mining and burning heavy hydrocarbons, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!
There is no EPA, no DEC/DEP, no Greenpeace... he is the master of his domain.

Considering to increase the EU-cost for UUM, btw :P

OK, that would cross the line from "suitably rare" to "OMG excessive."

Consider that you have to recycle 1155 stacks of material (nearly 74 thousand items) to get the UU-M now needed for a full quantum suit - and that's only if you supply the diamonds yourself. I think you've made QSuits suitably scarce already.

(Things like this make me check my address bar to make sure I'm not on the Minecraft Forum...)

I've since thoroughly clarified what I meant by that statement, and you're the only one that seems to care more about the literal (mis)interpretation of it than of the corroboration of the changes.

But if it's THAT important to you to be right, I won't deny it to you. It's obvious that you have a deep, unsatisfied need to be correct about something, and since this doesn't matter to anyone but you, you can have it.

There, do you feel better now?

Then you may want to check to see if your posts can be construed as "hostile" before you post them. Bugging Alblaka about the release of a 1.0 version could get you banned. Fortunately he seems to be merciful in your case.
If you "don't understand" then maybe you need to read the big important sticky before you go trawling for a post to support your position. In fact, you'll see one of the earliest replies there is from me, stating "Many people don't read announcements or stickies on the forum - no matter where they are, no mattter how blatant." (which you have once more proven) and "Alblaka KNOWS that Minecraft 1.0 is out... so why do people need to ask for an update, or when it will be? It's done when it's done - promising a date doesn't change that." (which is why questions like yours are useless and annoying).

As for "innocence"? I'll remind you that they found OJ "innocent" the first time too - that doesn't mean he didn't get away with murder.

My apologies if my sarcastic comment offended your delicate sensibilities. I had incorrectly assumed that you could get as good as you give. We do have one thing in common - I am also impatient... but my lack of patience is with impatient people who don't do their research before asking uninformed questions. So I had hoped you could understand where I come from.
