EU-meter is only fixed on the later versions of IC² Experimental, sorry.

The energy network is being reworked and for such it lost its ability to melt cables, explode machines or lose power. You can only wait till they get reimplemented in the future.

Also question that people will eventually ask, this is IC² dependant and can it transport other types of power (RF for example)?

There is? Forge for 1.8 is not news to be honest and we all know that forge 1.8 have a very negative talking about it with many people ignoring it completely, including the modders.

Its a "bug" , but one that won't be fixed soon because the energy network is a Work In Progress and currently lacks the ability to explode or melt down wires and such.

Hey... look. It also happens on the GC asteroid dimension: -
Energy output per tick is increased.
Lets say 1.0 of regular generator. It outputs 10 EU/t
Change it to 2.0 and you will get the generator to output 20 EU/t, effectively doubling the total energy obtained aswell. -

Maybe the blackholes it create are so tiny that it disappears right after its creation.
We know that blackholes need to keep sucking matter in order to maintain its size or they will eventually disappear. Hawking radiation it emits or something weird like i think? -

Sorry, but limit of action for tile entity based tunneling shield is defined by chunk loading range. If it goes further it will lost his connection to tile entity. At a year 2017 i would probably start working on SpwnX suggestion about electric RailCraft version of tunneling shield.
Couldn't you force chunkload the tunnel shield (head only) and the main tile entity?
And use some hackish way to store the mining pipes location and integrity? -
