Sadly, only a very few have the ability to do it.
Instead of updating this dying old version, i recommend tweaking using MineTweaker/ModTweaker.
This can be done by everyone that feels like and requires no special ability other than being able to read a few pages of wiki. -
I agree with the cable upgrader being something to just replace the cable on the fly (with a better cable in the inventory).
Good for rewiring and keeping the current setting of the cable (keeping the color of the cable is very important to make this useful in some setups) -

You're literally burning cobblestone for energy.
Cheaty, but yeah, that happens, even with the regular recycler (for a much lower energy net).
Unless you put cobblestone in the blacklist (config) or install GregTech (which puts tons of easily obtainable junk in the blacklist).You can also disable the combustion of scrap in the configs aswell.

You can use EnetBridge (see pending addons, i'm too lazy to link it now) for conversion.
But i guess not now, you might want to wait until BC 6.something (which uses RF) is out, since EnetBridge works better with RF conversion. -

IC² blast furnace speed is heat independant (it still requires 1 heat/s to function though).
The reasoning it takes so long is that it works differently. It turns iron + air into steel + slag.
Slag is a byproduct which can be centrifuged into coal and gold. -
Unless it has changed by TD on recent crop patches, crop breeding should be random...
Also, my best bet would be reed + pumpkin.

I've got two suggestions for today:
Rubber Sheet:
Currently, the rubber sheet is very underused and not that useful.
My suggestion is to make it nullify ALL fall damage aswell bouncing the player upwards at a HIGHER velocity (about 50% more) than it has reached the sheet, allowing players to propel themselves upwards using the rubber sheets, like trampolines. Holding shift (crouching) would completely stop the player from bouncing.RTG cart:
RC-IC2 integration item, that simply puts a RTG in a cart, allowing it to give off power to RailCraft electric locomotives.
Possibly a single core nuclear reactor cart aswell
Who doesn't want a nuclear-powered locomotive? -
