In other news, when I play KSP again I'm gonna make a cannon which shoots out a small rocket which uses the cannon to assist it to orbit.
Like what Danny did?
In other words, a CATO, Cannon Assist to Orbit, the most Kerbal thing I've come up with.
Ever heard of Project Orion?
The Allmighty Dragonlord Modderator Alblaka was probably hired by a marketing company ("HAYO!") and got so distracted by his work that he can't come online here anymore.
Regarding IC³... This must happen. Post by The Allmighty Dragonlord Modderator Post about cake
Ah, so for a 300 Tonne ship in earths gravity I need about 1.3 MN, not 1.2 -_-
No, if I did my math right, you'll need about 3 MN (=2 Mainsails) just to lift off (TWR = 1) and therefore a little more than 6 MN (=4 Mainsails) for optimal TWR. Of course, as it burns fuel, the ship gets lighter and the TWR increases, which means that the required thrust decreases. And the additional engines and the structure required to hold them (+their additional fuel, if required) means an increase in mass, which again means you might need more engines...
Does anyone know how to calculate thrust needed for a X Tonne ship with Y thrust in Z gravity?
TWR = Y / X*Z
Of course, you need to get your units right. You want your TWR to be about 2.2 for a rocket launch, assuming we are talking about KSP.
Yes, but compared to conventional rocket engines
Oh, sorry. The Space Shuttle's main engines had a thrust of ~2090 kN in vaccum (http://www.nasa.gov/returntoflight/system/system_SSME.html)
The Falcon 9's second-stage engine has a thrust of 801 kN (http://www.spacex.com/falcon9).
The RL10B-2 Engine has a thrust of 110 kN (http://www.rocket.com/rl10-engine-0).
How much thrust do they output IRL?
Look at my post again. It's there. "330 kN" (the unit used in KSP is kN)
dont forget that they suck thrust wise
like
suck
majorly
Not in RL! Look at the section about Project Rover
QuoteThe goal was a 1 MN thruster, but due to budget cuts in the late 1960's, it was scaled it down a 330 kN version.
Also, if you say that about the LV-N, what do you think about the ion engine?
I know about RL NTRs that are illegal to use because of some nuclear space treaty.
I shall use an Alcubierre Drive to propel us into space!
I shall use ion drives, and NTR to win this war!
Ion drives? Tell me when you've arrived at your destination in 10000 years. High Isp is no excuse!

Thanks to resources packs I could bundle this perfectly
"Could" as in "was able to" or "would be able to"?
Nice addon. I will use it, so long as it does not crash Minecraft from a conflict with anything else.
This is no longer being updated. However, it is included in GregTech now.
Hmm I'll have to add something to make use of languages which aren't included in vanilla minecraft.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to not having to overwrite original files if and when that gets added.
Okay, there's only one thing to say 'bout this being updated...
HAYO!
I agree. HI-JOE!
Its not considered necroposting if its an update to the OP, you are just reviving a thread considered "dead" for acceptable reasons.
Thank you for correcting me! I will keep that in mind.
You wanted it, so I updated it for you: I don't now's HI-JOE language pack!
Currently still in the "pending addons" subforum, unfortunately.
Again, sorry for the necro, but again, there's an update out!
May I request this thread to be moved to the Localization subforum?
Yes. HAYOish should be a chooseable language. Someone (I think it was I Don't Now) made a HAYO language pack sometime.
Don't worry, I'm working on updating it.
