If you want to hear my ideas on the subject (I'm told they're good by those capable of critical thought and civil discussion even when our opinions differ) I'll gladly discuss them with you. You can PM me on the technic or FTB forums.
Please, do tell, instead of throwing a bunch of insults our way do you want to back it up with some facts? I hate to reopen this, but we do have threads on these subjects from before .
QuoteGreg is an elitist asshat that's only proving Kaker's comment to be accurate
Elitist asshat, how? He made the mod, he can choose who uses it. If I made a study group (for lack of a better example) and excluded someone from it because they drag the group down with their lack of understanding, am I an elitist asshat for not letting them join? Also, what comment by KakerMix? I have yet to see anything like that yet.QuoteIgnorance truly is bliss.
Please read the threads I linked, anything you might have to argue has probably already been covered by them. If not, feel free to add something to the discussions.
Quoteyou're blind or an idiot.
So 99% of people are blind or idiots? That's how conspiracy theories get started.
QuoteI really couldn't care less
As shown by you making this post.
QuoteMojang's worst idea was letting a bunch of mouth-breathing sycophants police themselves
I'm assuming you mean the modding community, Mojang can't even release a modding API, why the hell would they want to police other people's works?
Quotewithout having to deal with this crap
And yet here you are still posting, telling us that you are open to discussion, what part of the "You are idiots, I'm done with you" attitude does this exemplify?
-
Hey Greg, may want to clean up your code a bit, your little DRM detection likes to go off even if the minecraft directory is renamed anything but FTB.
That is not how it works, at all. It works by checking the file path for mentions of tekkit, technic, Tekkit, or Technic, not for FTB, please check your facts before making wild accusations.
-
Not releasing it to the public is unrelated to allowing it in Tekkit.
Greg is indeed hurting the end user - unfortunately for us, he has the right to hurt the end user.
This did happen to me - the server I am playing on used to be a Tekkit server, and they didn't rename the folder it was in when they switched, so GregTech refused to load and the map had to be partially reset to generate new ores.
I think (not certain) that the method of detecting Tekkit has been updated since then, your case, while unfortunate, was a side effect of Greg simply not wanting to deal with Technic users, at all. Let's be honest here, a lot of the users are not stupid, but there are some that are, those ones sometimes come to this forum with trivial to fix "errors" or requests to downgrade mods to past Minecraft versions which make no sense to downgrade to, and suggestions with no logical sense or ease of implementation. Personally, it's Greg's choice, even though I agree with it, sometimes the end user does get hurt because of it, ultimately it was his decision to take potentially hurting a few end users over the potential of dealing with the part of the pack users that are annoyingly stupid/ignorant of the mods (I do in fact have friends that did not know the difference between core IC2 and your mod).QuoteAlso, why would Tekkit even want GregTech? They have easy-mode mods like EE, and GregTech is the complete opposite.
I'm pretty certain that Tekkit will have to update to 1.4.5 at some point(Google seems to think they did already, but their site seems to say differently) and in doing so, (assuming their site is correct) following the loss of EE, it's possible that they might try to grab a few more tech mods to bridge the gaps created by a lack of that mod, GregTech could be picked up somewhere along the line. However, your argument does make sense, as most of their user base sees nothing wrong with having a crapload of condensers and exploiting with EE (one of my friends that uses the pack insists on calling EE "mad science"), and therefore will probably not want a mod that makes things harder. -
All Gregorius is doing is hurting the end user. Greg, stop being such a pussy and take it up in a mature manner with Kakermix.
Greg is defending his work from people he does not want to deal with. Simple as that, as the creator of content, he could simply not release it to the public at all, would you prefer that? Greg is not hurting "the end user" if the intended audience does not include those that use that damn pack, and he is certainly not being a pussy by defending his work.

Wait, did I say you'd be building space elevators and mining the moon? Indeed, RS:R will give our old friend Steve the chance to undertake a one-man space program. From your earliest fumbling experiments with rocket fuel (better build a non-flammable lab!) to the successful development of the warp drive, the new research system provides gradual access to features and areas. If you've ever dreamed of building your own private space station, launching imaging satellites to spy on your rival's lair, exploring the surface of the moon in a heavily-armored rover (gotta watch out for those Lunar Creepers and Astronaut Skeletons), or launching a fleet of mining drones to recover resources from asteroids, RS:R has you covered. You might even detect a long-abandoned alien outpost on Mars and launch a mission to salvage its technology...
Kentington, I...
That sounds awesome. In a completely unrelated side note I think I need a new F5 key.

The mod API can be considered the biggest vaporware in Minecraft history.
If Mojang keeps it up for much longer, they might even rival Valve releasing anything with a 3 in its title
-
anyone want to guess when the Modding API will be released? im guessing between 1.8-2.0
Pick a random number between 1 and 10, now throw that number away and keep telling the public that the API will be released next version. You are now thinking like Mojang.
-
I'm pretty certain that the modding API was confirmed to not be in 1.5
-
Come on people, let's slip away from a casual flamewar on the packs, there are threads for that in General Discussion.
-
@above *sigh* Use NEI 1.4.2.7
-
No one here can help you without a error/crash report. You can usually find these in the minecraft crashlog folder or the forgemodloader.log file
He posted one earlier, it seemed like an NEI error

Gives Iridium Ore to the World. Notch gets all honor for it.
Oh yeah, you're right. THANK YOU ALBLAKA FOR PUTTING IRIDIUM IN THE GAME!

how ever if you pulsed the Transformer or given redstone to the last transformer been a HV that would make more sence as it would turn the transformer into a Invertor thus increasing the voltage back to HV at the cost of current.
That's how it works, you give a redstone signal and it makes it step up the EUs.Quotebut when they run low they flash and emit ligh
That's completely intentional, they need EU to run, if they run out of EU and continuously receive EU from wires, it's completely logical that they would alternate from off to on states.
QuoteIndustrial Information Panels
ಠ_ಠ, that's a part of the Nuclear Control addon, not IndustrialCraft.
QuoteFinal ask is there a possibilty to convert EU to blue Electric used in the Red Power Mod and another block in reverse?
Not yet, and it's possible there will not be one for quite some time, however when redpower updates to 1.4.5 (your pack won't see that update for quite some time) there will technically be a way to use Redpower in systems for converting MJ to EU.

Indestructible to TNT = OP, but as for mining ... clearly, we can say an indestructible block is OP in PvP, so against explosive stuff. Blocks can be indestructible for mining.
Personal Safe Reactor reinforcement anyone?

Greg, I would like to suggest a recipe for upgrading from Standard Machine Casing to Reinforced Machine Casing. After making a Blast Furnace and an Industrial Grinder, upgrading to higher forms of casing on the Blast Furnace is expensive and afterwards you are left with Standard Machine Casing that will probably not be used again (unless you have plans for future multi-block machines). My suggestion for a recipe for a single Reinforced Machine Casing block is:
where
= steel,
= 2x insulated gold wire, and
= Standard Machine Casing. Thank you for your consideration.

But soon you can mine it in the End (somewhen in V2.52). I will generate small Asteroids so you can get them, even if you already have been there before.
This
Was totally worth it then.
