IC2... open source?

What's the chance of IC2 ever being made open source? (if it is, I recommend using github :p)
It's quite a complicated mod, and if more people could look at it, I'm sure it'd do better. I guess it won't though, unless there was some form of not-really-open-source license, after looking at the rules for add-ons.
