2.8.190-ex112 Feed Redstone into Machines via Pipes

Manually inserting Redstone as a power Source in a Macerator etc. works.

Trying to feed it into the bottom using a buildcraft pipe or a projectred pipe causes it to be rejected and drop/go back.

Using the same pipes to feed ores into a Macerator works fine.

Is it a bug or intentionally disabled?

Intended.

You can't insert items through the bottom slot of machines, not even batteries.

Except for energy storage blocks to automatically discharge batteries.

I'm not sure why you'd even want to automate powering a machine via redstone in the power slot. That's for very early game before you've built a generator or batbox and cables to power the machine that way.
