Long time no see! Over the past year, the Bedrock Edition Add-On API has made significant progress, allowing us to implement more interesting and stable content in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. After a long period of migration and refactoring, we have successfully upgraded the legacy content of IndustrialCraft² for Bedrock from version 1.20.5 to the latest 1.21.90 Preview, significantly improving machine performance. With the gradual stabilization of the underlying infrastructure, Industrial² for Bedrock has now entered a brand new development phase. We're excited to announce that starting with this version, Industrial² for Bedrock has officially completed its Alpha stage and entered the Beta stage. Of course, refactoring and migration mean there are still many imperfections and bugs. As the first version of the Beta phase, it still contains a large number of issues, and many known problems remain unresolved mainly due to limited development time. These will be addressed in future updates. Additionally, due to the large amount of new content, we rushed this build to allow early access, and therefore did not have time to add recipes yet. Hence, we do not recommend playing in Survival mode with this version. We will quickly add recipes in upcoming updates and continue improving the content, identifying and fixing bugs along the way. Please stay tuned for updates!

    Major Update

In Beta 1.0.0, we have restructured and open-sourced the data storage system, optimized performance, and adjusted the data format, reducing unnecessary overhead and enhancing player experience. However, this also means that we no longer support old save files. New architecture, new look, new levels — it’s time to start fresh! (已编辑)

Power Grid Node Refactor / Separation

In the new version, we have rebuilt the power grid system based on the new data storage architecture, separating node logic from block behavior. This greatly reduces coupling and lays a solid foundation for future content and technical updates.

    Texture Updates

With the arrival of the Beta stage, texture updates have also entered a new phase. We have integrated all content from the previous version's texture resource pack into the main mod. Now, you no longer need to load an external resource pack to enjoy the updated textures. In the future, we will provide legacy textures as "Programmer Art" resource packs.

    Fluid Cells

Tired of only carrying one bucket of water at a time? In this version, we've added stackable fluid cells!

    • Added fluid cells that can hold liquids; stack limit is 64
    • Added water cell, obtainable by interacting a fluid cell with a water block
    • Added lava cell, obtainable by interacting a fluid cell with a lava block

Known issue: Fluid cells can currently only be placed in air blocks (will be fixed in next version)

    More Devices

Based on the now-stable power grid system, we’ve added several new electric devices:

    Geothermal Generator

Magma — the scalding liquid deep beneath the earth — has always been a topic of debate regarding how best to utilize it. But the geothermal generator doesn’t care much about debates. “Magma? So what? What does that have to do with me?” It simply drinks in magma and keeps generating electricity. People marvel at its efficiency and revolutionary perspective on energy generation, but few realize it just really enjoys drinking magma.

    • Added geothermal generator, capable of generating electricity from magma. Voltage tier: Low, max storage: 24,000 EU.
    • Players can inject magma buckets or magma cells into the generator to produce power at a rate of 10EU/mB, 2mB/tick

    Compressor

The compressor has always loved hugs, but was never satisfied. “They don’t like hugging,” the compressor once reminisced thoughtfully, “why wouldn’t they want to get close? They just don’t understand.” Therefore, it finds its current job quite satisfying. “I love the feeling of being pressed together. Closer, closer still. Ideally, never separate again.”

    • Added compressor, voltage tier: Low, max storage: 1,200 EU.
    • The compressor allows you to compress various ores and ingots into blocks. More recipes will be added in future versions.

    Recycler

The recycler loves turning items into scrap, even though sometimes nothing comes out of it. Still, the process fascinates it. “Look, here comes the junk collector again,” the recycler has grown used to such mockery, but it doesn’t care. “Scrap is the origin and destination of everything. No matter what something is, no matter how different things are, they must have started from a pile of seemingly useless stuff — and eventually become a pile of scrap. That’s fair, isn’t it?”

    • Added recycler, voltage tier: Low, max storage: 90 EU.
    • The recycler can recycle any item and convert it into scrap with a certain probability.

    Extractor

“You always say this is the last one,” muttered the extractor while squeezing the third portion of rubber from the resin. “But I know there’s always more potential.” The extractor is obsessed with exploring the limits of materials. When other machines question its almost obsessive extraction behavior, the extractor gently plays with the newly extracted rubber: “I’m just helping them return to their original form.”

    • Added extractor, voltage tier: Low, max storage: 1,200 EU.
    • Currently, the extractor can extract multiple portions of rubber from resin and turn rubber logs into rubber.

    Wire Embedding Gameplay

For players who value aesthetics in architectural design, various wires often feel naturally opposed to elegant construction. Without mimicry panels, decorating factories filled with wires has always been inconvenient. To address this, we’re introducing a completely new gameplay feature in this version: Wire Embedding. In the new version, holding wire cutters in your main hand and any type of wire in your offhand allows you to embed wires into any wooden block (excluding signs). Once embedded, the wooden block behaves exactly like the wire you inserted.

    • You can use wire cutters again to interact with the block and retrieve the embedded wire
    • Breaking a block containing an embedded wire will drop the corresponding wire in addition to the block itself
    • In the power grid system, a block with an embedded wire functions identically to placing the wire directly in that location

With wire embedding, you can seamlessly integrate your power grid into your building structure, achieving both functionality and beauty. Like any emerging gameplay mechanic, this feature is still in very early development. For now, we only support embedding into wooden blocks. Future updates will refine support for different block types and introduce additional tools to embed wires into harder materials. We highly encourage you to try this feature and share your feedback!

    Hybridization System

In this version, we have fully migrated the core mechanics of IC²'s crop system to Bedrock Edition. You can now plant and harvest all existing IC²-related crops in Bedrock.Note: For testing purposes, we temporarily increased crop growth speed by 16x. This will be fixed in the next version

    Crop Base

The crop base has always dreamed of rural life, so it enjoys standing in farmland. When the herbicide sprayer isn't looking, the crop base secretly lets weeds grow through the soil cracks. “You call them weeds? That’s not my problem. These little guys just want to live too,” it has its own principles. Although people don’t care, in reality, the crop base is a kind of crop.

    • Added crop base, which allows players to plant crops,
    • Hold a crop base and right-click another crop base block to switch it into hybridization mode
    • In hybridization mode, when adjacent crop bases have two or more compatible crops, there is a chance to create a new crop with higher attributes
    • Empty crop bases may randomly grow weeds
    • Weeds may spread to nearby crop bases
    • Added herbicide, usable on crop bases to resist weed growth
    • Added hydration unit, usable to water crops
    • Some high-growth-rate crops may cause neighboring crop bases to grow weeds
    • Due to limitations in the Bedrock Edition API, we cannot currently detect light levels at specific positions, so crop growth is unaffected by light level
