The Nuclear Greenhorn - Random Questions

  • Alright, so I just made my first reactor in my friend's server, and it's running okay. Less EU than I'd hoped, but I'm running a 2-chamber Mark II-E EC, so no complaints. I'd like to upgrade to a single-cycle Mark II, or something more powerful, but I'd like to clarify some things:

    1. Heat. Is there a way to measure this?
    2. Cycles = full to empty uranium cells, right?
    3. Would 2 Mark II-E ECs (http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…=1o10101001501521s1r11r10) be much more cost-efficient than this: http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…ay=1k10101001511621s1r11r
    4. Cooldown time is real time, right?
    5. When they say 25 water or 25 air in the reactor planner, does this mean I need to make a 5x5 space and fill it to the brim with water?

  • 1. Not unless you have the thermometer addon.
    2. correct
    3. There is a initial resources tab on the planner. check it out. Also consider that if you make 2, youll be using twice as much uranium.
    4. Real time
    5. Its a 3x3x3 space around the nuclear reactor. Using reactor chambers mean 1 less water or air surrounding it.

  • 1: Yes, use the thermometer addon (IIRC version 1.18 )
    2: Correct
3: Unsure, I'm having java plugin issues ATM
    4: Yes
5: Somewhat close. Reactors only care about the 3x3 box that includes the core at it's center. (They'll inflict some damage within a 5x5 and 7x7 box around it; search other threads in this forum for more info); Yes that's only 27 blocks. If you have a 'core only' reactor plus a wire to get out of the box that leaves 25 spaces for water/air; now you know.
