  • Heating cells heat up components around them. The more heating cells you have in stack the more they heat up


    64 heating cells touching 4 components will produce 256 heat (64*4)


    28 heating cells touching 3 components will produce 84 heat (28*3)


    Also 64 heating cells in a single stack will keep heating components till the temp is 64000. 28 heating cells will keep heating till its 28000.

    Not sure why people keep trying to "improve" by replacing my Thick Neutron Reflectors with the normal Neutron Reflectors. Cost above is with THICK Neutron Reflectors, but keeping the new 5 chamber design.


    Edit: The reason I'm using THICK Neutron Reflectors in my design is so you don't have to replace each one 4 times during a full cycle. If people insist on using normal Neutron Reflectors, you're welcome to do so... but you're going to need a total of 16 of them and you're going to have to manually replace them 4 times during the course of a full cycle. Hence the reason I use the Thick Neutron Reflectors. You replace them once, at the same time you replace the Quad Uranium Cell.


    The purpose of my design was a simple maximum efficiency reactor for cases where you don't need 4,000EU/t or something crazy like that. You're in no rush for your energy, and want to be conservative with your Uranium.

    I had 20 tabs with reactors spreading over 3 screens, we all make mistakes.

    I noticed a crazy amount of mark 1 reactors but no mark 2 reactors so far. Anyone has the guts to design a nice one? (meaning it has to be competitive with the mark 1 reactors)

    I see no need for that) people either want a mk I to some critical needs, or they need a powerhouse as a time gap between these is about hour-several. maybe, I ll try for fun xD

    Why do I like this reactor, compared to yours, that it takes really small amount of fuel and it works more, than it cools. I REALLY want RP to use such thing. Shame, there is no module/addon for reactor to output redstone, as soon as *any* component reaches X heat.

    Reflector lasts 10k ticks. If it does not, it is a bug. It's a full cycle.

    Be advised: Neutron Reflectors surrounded by multiple cells will diminish faster (2 cells adjacent to the same reflector will deplete it in half of a cell cycle).

    So with Neutron Reflectors adjacent to Quad cells, they'd last 10k/4, or 2500 ticks. Thus why you need Thick Neutron Reflectors.

    Mark II reactors rely on storing heat somewhere in order to vent it during the cooldown phase, and there aren't many places to store heat in the current system. 60k coolant cells, over a 10k cycle time, average to storing 6 heat per reactor tick, the same as a normal vent - you do gain slightly with the coolant cells, since you can timeshift the cooling, but that's relatively small. Heat storage in 'normal' components amounts to a small sum as well - going with the generous assumptions of a 50/50 mix of vents and Component Exchangers across 50 reactor slots, that amounts to a 150k heat sink, or about 15 heat per tick.


    So it seems like the 1.106 reactor model heavily favors Mk I, III, and V, with only a very narrow window for Mk II to possibly operate in.

    My potential contribution to the list.
    Mark I, Efficiency 4, 160 EU/t.
    Iron 234, Copper 413, Tin 65, Gold 16 (5-chamber)


    It's higher efficiency than any Mk I currently in the list (aside from the reflector-based eff 7), and it is a different resource balance: lower gold, more copper/iron. I don't know if that's enough to make it useful to others.

    Edit- 4-chamber variant with lower resource costs. Remove the bottom-rightmost heat exchanger to save a couple copper and make it a Mark II-1 ;p

  • Currently, (in 1.106, unless it was stealth-fixed), any exchangers that are processed before any type of plating will be using an incorrect value for the core's maximum heat


    Eg, A reactor core at 15k heat: Heat Exchanger -> 10 x Reactor Plating -> Heat Exchanger


    The first exchanger would 'see' the core temp is 15k out of 10k (150%) and melt itsself trying to match that.
    The second exchanger would see 15k of 20k (75%) and balance itself to 75% too.


    Edit: Component Exchangers are immune to this, as they don't touch the core.

    Combining a high 340 EU/t output with an efficiency of 5,67.
    The cooling however is 664 out of 912 heat generated, meaning its a Mark V EA+ reactor with a generation time of 5 min 19 seconds, which is the perfect generation time for using a wooden pressure plate (tested and working) and in that time will generate 2m EU. The cooldown is kinda fast taking only under 3 minuts.
    Cost: Copper 509, Tin 103, Iron 317, Gold 94 ...
    So its not a Mark I stable reactor, its not the most efficient reactor, its not the highest output reactor, its something in between, and having 2 of them switching between on and off every 5 minuts using simple dispenser/pressure plate logic is easy, though you need to replace the neutron reflectors from time to time.

    5:21 - 2:16, but it doesn't really change much since its meant to run on a 5 min clock, using pressure plates and dispensers.


    But max EU/t would be around 239 EU/t average with cooldown, if you watch it and maintain it perfectly, while the 5 min run / 5 min CD I have gives 170 EU/t average.
