The condenser needs to be touching the turbine which is taking the steam in, not the steam generator itself. Basically with Steam Generator -> Kinetic Steam Generator -> Kinetic Steam Generator, the condenser needs to touch the second kinetic steam generator. The produced distilled water will need to be pumped out of both the kinetic steam generator and condenser otherwise they'll stop and you'll get steam explosions from the steam having nowhere to go.

Each 1mb of superheated steam also needs 200 HU/t otherwise the boiler won't be hot enough to produce it and you get steam explosions at the first kinetic steam generator (as it doesn't have a condenser touching it, but shouldn't need one if you're only using super heated steam), due to it getting normal steam along side super heated.

If you hold shift whilst right clicking with a wrench it will face the opposite direction to the one you click on, so you can set it to touch it like that.

It was coding style as much as anything (although I suppose you could get away with it being a flaw in that).

It wasn't a bug even if it's not a feature

Probably F3-H again, I don't remember setting the item IDs to shown doing that (although it could always be an NEI addon doing it).

If you go into the NEI options, Inventory - Item IDs and set it to shown. Then all the items will have their IDs and metadata shown as ID:meta, so you'll use the second part for adding the recipes.

It's a bug that it will get the coordinates and set having a valid target, then change to having an invalid target just afterwards. It might still work, don't remember whether it tests if the target is valid before giving it to the teleporter anyway. Either way I fixed it in IC2 2.5.15, but that's for 1.9.

If you do F3-H then that'll show the debug tooltips, which will give you the metadata of any item you hover over.

If you're on 1.7.10 then NEI can do it too.

It could be Cauldron causing the drops to be destroyed to reduce lag from explosions.

Technic only had MFFS in from Technic 7 (for 1.2.5), so you're not going to be able to get the versions of MFFS you want from that. There's always the option of trying to find where asiekierka (of http://asie.pl/ that did Buildcraft and Charset) is currently and asking him, he's got a fairly vast mod collection so might well have it. One for 2 (that is really version 1 as well as it's a single mod difference that never should've happened), 3, 4, 5 and 6. 7 I have in the Technic Launcher itself. A while ago I went and got each version (and tried to do the same with Tekkit, although that was a little harder as the versions merged together more), and ended up playing 3 a lot.

That's not an IC2 caused crash, Bibliowoods TerraFirmaCraft crashed because it couldn't find a particular API.

A crash report is normally a very good place to start, that should give enough information to get an idea what's going wrong.

If you wanted I could probably make a small mod to allow custom turning blanks. (It would be even easier if you like the custom item mod you're using already so that the format is the same).

I wonder if you could make it heavier so throwing it didn't go as far too...

You can't use wooden rotors in water turbines because they'd rot. It's mostly for balance reasons really, as unlike wind turbines, water turbines don't necessarily have long cables to them so using a wooden rotor would make it too early game.

The items are rendered dynamically, but only on an individual item basis. If you extended the Iron Turning Blank itself for example, it would still be an iron turning blank so would still use it's texture, which you wouldn't be able to change unless you could override the texture method (which would probably be way beyond the scope of your average custom item mod). The tooltip it has you can change easily as that's designed on a per meta basis, but the texture isn't.

The items that are modified in a turning table implement ILatheItem, so you'll probably want to return the resource location of the image you want to use via ILatheItem#getTexture(ItemStack).
